I was in a room of darkness it wasn't
enough to open the window for air
I had to unlock the door so I searched for the key...
When he came back on that turning-point day, Teddy felt like a new person. He was very excited, he stood at the entrance to a new life and his blood was boiling in his veins and his heart was beating in his temples. He was ready to move on. But he had something to do first.
Moving fast, Teddy began taking out of the wardrobes clothes and shoes and throwing it all in the middle of his room. Then he, without even looking, with one adroit gesture swept off the shelves his golden and platinum discs, multiple awards and the other stuff that had been getting dusty there for years. After that he found his musical instruments and this time two guitars, banjo and couple of drumsticks were unlucky.
Teddy wanted to set this mess on fire right in the house but he stopped himself. He has already done enough damage, the fire would be the last straw! So he pushed everything into the bag and got it outside.
Attracted by the noise Martha went out of her room and gave her brother a long stare.
- What are you doing? – she asked.
- Saying good bye to my hated past, - Teddy answered shortly. His little sister couldn't help giggling.
- Again?
He couldn't remember making such statements before although it was quite possible. Now for some reasons he hardly remembered his former life. Everything was seen like through the muddy glass. Nevertheless the past didn't matter now.
- And why do you hate your golden discs? – couldn't stop asking curious Martha but Teddy didn't want to explain anything.
- This time it will be different, - he spoke with confidence and hurriedly went outside. Having thrown everything from the bag on the lane he set it on fire with pleasure.
- Is he finally gone nuts? – Cindy asked Martha but she just shook her head.
- That's Teddy! – she just said. – Today he burns his guitars and tomorrow he'll cut his hair!
And although his sisters didn't believe that "this is for long with Teddy now", he has really begun a new life and didn't intend to go back to the former one. The library has become his favorite place in the house again. It reminded him of his weakness but there he could find everything his soul was longing for. He was greedily devouring religious books that he has found. Having studied everything concerning Christianity, Teddy began his acquaintance with Muslim, Buddhism, Judaism and other believes.
There were no many books on these topics, so he had to turn to internet. New knowledge opened the whole new world for him and Teddy couldn't imagine how he had lived without it before. All his previous interests and hobbies looked so pathetic now! But it was really so. Only God now mattered and each day Teddy felt closer to him.
And then trips to the holy places followed and he saw many young people who have devoted their lives to Lord. He was deeply concerned with the question: could he do anything like this ever? Sometimes he still had the thoughts about the senselessness of his existence and he saw a great sin in it. But the life devoted to God couldn't be named senseless! So slowly and little by little Teddy was coming closer to realizing of what his next step should be.
