The Promise

Feeling the wind hits her face. Jennie spreads her arms and pretends she's flying. The same thing she did when she first came to this place with Lili, her Lili.

Rose: Wow. This is a great escape route.

The comment brought Jennie back to reality. She's here to investigate. For sure, no one ever reached this far.

Jennie: Lili said there were several tunnels inside the house which lead to several places. I remember getting lost in one of them before and Lili found me and showed me this place.

Jisoo: So you're hoping she must have ran through the tunnel and got here before the fire? *Asked in disbelief*

Jennie: *Sensing the doubt in Jisoo's voice.* I know. I know. Okay? But I can't shake off the feeling because as you have seen, it was too easy for her to get to the tunnel from her room.

Lisa: She's 7. She must have panicked and went to her parents instead of running into a dark scary tunnel.

Jennie: No. She's not a normal 7 year old. She's so smart, she knows the use of the tunnel.

Jisoo: Jen, don't you think Lisa is right? She may be smart but that doesn't mean she did not get scared. I heard Mr Lee got shot first then his wife. Elisabeth must have been scared too.

Rose: I am sorry. This might not be helpful but I saw this in the bushes. *showed a small dirty box in her hand*

Jennie took a step closer to Rose and so does Jisoo. Jennie held the box like her dependent on it. She slowly opened it. Inside a beautiful necklace with an infinity pendant studded with diamonds. Jennie took it out and a tiny roll of paper got dropped.

Jennie: Sleeping Beauty slept for 1000 years before getting rescued by her prince. Now, you're just 992 years away. Happy 8th birthday Nini. *Read it loud. As soon as she finished, she chuckled*

Jisoo: *Laughed out loud* I love her humour. We could've been soulmates.

Jisoo's comment made everyone chuckled.

Jennie: But that doesn't make sense. The attack happened in April. My birthday is in January. *confused*

Rose: Was she not able to attend your 8th birthday unnie?

Jennie: She was there. She never missed any of my birthdays. I am pretty sure I will throw a tantrum and ask my parents to cancel the party if she can't come.

Jisoo: That's odd. Very odd.

Jennie: Oh. She gave me this then. *shows the necklace she's wearing* She has Lili and I have Nini.

Jisoo: Wow. We came here for answers yet we have more questions to ask.

Jennie: No. She must have held on to this and she ran off.

Lisa: Umm. You can actually get that checked at the Police Station. Maybe they can scan the finger prints to verify. Let me take that. *Lisa pulled out a plastic bag and took the small box from Jennie's hand. Careful not to touch the box as it was already held by Rose and Jennie*

Jennie: Do you think she's alive? *asked Lisa*

Lisa: I am not sure. But we can get this scanned and maybe they can tell us who held it and when was the last time it was held. Hopefully you girls touching it won't destroy the prints.

Rose: Oops. Sorry.

Jisoo: Wah! We got ourselves a real detective. *chuckles*

Jennie: I didn't know you know this stuff.

Lisa: I. Years of watching Detective Conan is paying off.

Jisoo: Oh. I like the anime. We are soulmates Lisayah. *Jumped onto Lisa and hugged her tight which made the younger one chuckled *
