CJ Flint

"I'm her boyfriend." Mike violently took Vince's hand off my arm and intertwined mine with his. It was warm and familiar. In a time of chaos, leave it to Mike to say something that would add on to all the stress, but instead end up making everything stay completely calm. I loved the way it rolled of his tongue in a way that he was confident. I guess after all the Friday night take out and after work talks turned into something more. I should have seen that after we were literally in my bed this morning cuddling.

"Well, since you are a cop,"  Vince commented gesturing to Mike's uniform. "You can take her to the startion for questioning."

"Questioning for what? CJ didn't do anything." Mike's disbelief was evident to not only Vince and I, but to all the people who had started to watch the confrontation.

"Calm down, Officer." Vince mocked. "People are starting to stare at your little angel  who, might I add, was present at both the fire scenes that happened today."

Mike had been getting more angry until he heard that I had been at both fire sights. He looked at me for approval. I gave him a sheepish smile for my response to let him know that it was true. From there he turned away from Vince and led me to his police car as nonchalantly as he could. I could tell by his demeanor that he was trying to cause the least amount of attention so that we wouldn't be video taped or recognized later for this confrontation.

He opened the passenger door for me before shutting me inside. A few seconds later he opened the drivers side door and got in. He was silent the whole way to the station that was about twenty minutes away. The radio that was playing softly had voices going over it that where reporting on the explosion and fire. Mike still stayed silent as he pulled into the station then we both opened our doors to get out.

He grabbed my upper arm to navigate me through the busy station. Mike brought me all the way into the back of the building that had quiet rooms for questioning. He looked down at me in a reassuring way as he opened the door of one of the rooms. I walk in willingly and sit down where the single chair is. The other side has two chair identical to the ones that I was sitting in.

For the first time I realized why Mike hadn't talked to me all the way here. He couldn't be attached to me in any way or else he wouldn't be able to question me himself. Someone else would have to come in to question me instead of him and he didn't want that to happen. I waited for a long time before two officers came in.

One of them being Mike.
