When Tywin had first stumbled upon you in the woods, he'd wondered what you were doing there. You wouldn't speak clearly or loudly, so it made it obvious that you were hiding from something or someone. What was also obvious was that you'd used something to change your hair color, perhaps to aide in your escape from wherever you were running from. Tywin didn't know what to make of you at first, but he soon found himself falling love.

It bothered him, falling in love with you. You were a man after all; one on the run at that. If you had been a woman that he could legally wed, that would be different. Tywin couldn't afford to go around having affairs with young men anymore. He was too old for that nonsense. He had nearly grown children and his family name to think of. Then came the day when everything would change.

You had excused yourself to run down to the river to bathe. It was a long journey to King's Landing from Casterly Rock and you wanted to get clean. After a little while, Tywin decided to join you. He needed a bath as well and when traveling, it was quicker for multiple men or women to bathe at the same time. When Tywin came upon the river, however, he stopped short.

There, on the bank of the river, was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. One look at the bag on the ground next to them revealed that the woman Tywin was seeing was you. Naked and shivering slightly in the soft, cool breeze, you made your way into the river. Tywin was still frozen as he took a moment to memorize every inch of visible skin. He felt like a young man all over again as he looked at you. It was as if he couldn't believe it. The young man he'd been slowly falling in love with was, in fact, a woman. And a great beauty.

Tywin took a step closer so he could announce his presence, but he stepped on a fallen tree limb, breaking it. The sounded echoed all around you. You jumped nearly a foot in the air as you spun around. You let out a scream. Tywin held his hands up to show he meant no harm.

"So, you're not a man after all." You shook your head, still too afraid to speak. "Who are you?" he asked. You licked your lips, making Tywin's eyes flicker there for a brief moment. He needed to keep it together. He was not some love-struck adolescent. "What is your name?" he pressed again. "I have already told you, it's Y/N." Now that you were speaking more clearly, it was obvious that you weren't a man.

"And why are you in hiding?" You crossed your arms over your chest. You didn't want to answer. "I do not like repeating myself, Y/N." With a sigh, you dropped your arms again. "Because I am a Targaryen. Or at least, half Targaryen, or perhaps only Targaryen through marriage. I am not really certain anymore. All I know is that everyone in Westeros wants me and my family dead. I thought it better to hide. I wasn't expecting you to find me."

For a moment, Tywin was silent. His green eyes never left your (e/c) ones. You were grateful they didn't stray again as you crossed your arms over your chest again, hiding once more. "What are you going to do now?" you asked quietly. Even from where he was standing, Tywin could see that you were frightened. "I'm going to have a bath, when you are finished. Then, we will talk about this more. And you will no longer travel as a man. You will be under my protection." Without giving you a chance to reply, Tywin turned to give you some privacy to finish your bath.

*time skip*

True to his word, Tywin protected you. And he was oddly...sweet about it. You wouldn't have expected it from the man. He was very much the Lannister lion. Then again, maybe he knew not to disturb the Targaryen dragon sleeping inside you. Or maybe there was a different reason. You didn't know. You did enjoy it however.

Tywin did as well. He enjoyed the way your face lit up whenever he had the opportunity to spoil you a little. He enjoyed the little smiles you gave when you found something humorous. He enjoyed your laughter, rare though it was. Mostly, he enjoyed being in your presence. There was something about you that made the stoic head of House Lannister want to smile and live life to the fullest again. He spent his every free moment with you, teaching about Westeros, how to fight, and how to play the great game. When he eventually asked you to be his wife, he wanted you to have the knowledge to keep you safe.

"Lord Tywin?" you asked one evening when you were playing chess with him. Not many people knew it, but the man was very good at the game. It was a game of strategy after all. "Yes, my dear?" You grinned at him. You loved it when he called you that. Well, more like, you liked the change in his tone when he called you that. "Why are you being so kind to me? Not that I am complaining, but the rest of your family wishes to see mine dead, so why don't you?"

Tywin let his eyes meet yours again. "I should have thought that was obvious, Y/N. Cannot you not think of a single reason?" Your brows furrowed in thought, another trait Tywin found endearing. "I can think of two. The first is that you are attempting to gain my favor so that you can later use it or betray me." At Tywin's scowl, you smiled apologetically. "And the second?"

"The second is that you l-love me. Which is farfetched, really..." you trailed off when you noticed the look on Tywin's face. You blinked in surprise. "Y-You love me?" Tywin slowly reached over and took your hand in his. "I do. My one desire is that, when our journey has ended and we arrive in King's Landing, you will become Lady Lannister." At this, your eyes grew wider than Tywin had ever seen them.

"But why? You could choose any other woman to be your wife. Why me?" Tywin let his thumb run across the back of your hand slowly. "I did not love my first wife when we married. It was arranged. I grew to love her as years went on, but I do not have to try with you, Y/N. You are easy to love. I know that I, however, am not." With your free hand, you reached across the table and placed it over his mouth.

It wasn't until that moment that Tywin saw the tears pricking the corners of your eyes. "I do. I do love you, Tywin. And, if you will still have me when we reach King's Landing, then I will gladly be your wife." You moved your hands from him and stood, making your way over so you could perch on his lap. You proceeded to press gentle kisses to his cheeks, nose, and forehead before finally attaching your lips. Tywin wrapped his arms around you, please that he could finally hold you to him. You were his now. His future wife, his love, his beauty.
