Sawyer prepares himself to block an attack. Rozz, the attacker, swing's his Haxe (hammer axe) low at Sawyer's legs, trying to sweep him, in attempt to knock him on his back. Sawyer dodges the swing and somersaults to the left to dodge Rozz's second strike. Sawyer still holstering his weapon continues to dodge every swing, strike, and blow, Rozz dishes out. Sawyer remembers his father telling him, that not only a good defense is the best offense, but also exhausting your opponents works just as well.
In the stands Beige accompanied by many more students at beacon watch the fight rage on, the fight was not just an arena exercise, but a social quarrel with Sawyer, Rozz, and Rozz's sister Beige.
Ariel walks down the steps followed by many boys carrying concessions for her. She sits next to Beige, who is confusedly cheering for both her brother and Sawyer.
Shoving popcorn in her face " So, who's winning?" she asks with her mouth full.
" I'm not so sure." she says," As I am not so sure as to who I should root for."
" You talk funny, you know that right?" she says as she swallows her food and continues," Why hasn't he used his weapons or aura abilities yet?!?"
" I don't exactly know. beside that I don't exactly know who he is either. He was really nice when he was talking to me, and my brother went berserk and attacked him..." She says, thinking about Sawyer makes her blush, and she hides her face when Ariel sees her.
" Ahhhhh, you like him! Ha! I knew it!" Ariel says excitably.
" You don't know me though, how could you tell if I liked him- er hypothetically!" she says covering her face again.
" I can tell when these sort of things happen." Ariel says as she scoots closer to Beige. " My name's Ariel, by the way! I like people!" She says suddenly and awkwardly hugging Beige.
" I'm Beige. Nice to be hugged by you?" she laughs.
One of Sawyer's aura abilities is Observance, he can mentally slow down time, and notice the flaws or weak points in his opponent or enemy. Although he cannot move any faster, it gives him 30 second to think about where to move and how to make his next attack. But since he was only defending himself, he had no need for it.
Sawyer briefly recovering from his somersault, Rozz aims him haxe for Sawyer's head. Unprepared for this illegal and unexpected move, Sawyer has no choice but to use his aura to take the extra step to keep from getting a concussion. He comes out of his time shifting state, and lands on his side, as the large haxe slams into the platform only a short distance from his head. Sawyer had to think fast, he pushed up with his right arm and swiftly swept Rozz's legs, knocking Rozz to the ground. Sawyer kicks himself up and waits for Rozz to come back to it.
Rozz stands up straight and looks Sawyer dead in the eyes. Sawyer refrains from using his aura against Rozz. A drop of sweat streaks down from Rozz's forehead to his chin. Sawyer has done what he needed to win this fight. He has exhausted Rozz. Frustrated Rozz suddenly attacks Sawyer, and unloads his aura into every strike, he swings his haxe over and Sawyer dodges. He swings his haxe under and Sawyer dodges, He swings his haxe left and right, Sawyer dodges every attempt, draining all of Rozz's aura. Extremely angry, he uses the remaining amount of his aura to gravity slam the arena platform and send Sawyer flying backwards!
Rozz crawls out of the crater he created and looks to see Sawyer had already recovered and has his sword pointed right at him. Rozz puts his head down, and raises his hands in defeat. Sawyer transforms his sword back into a metallic case that he holsters in a sheathe on his back, and he extends his hand to help Rozz up. Admitting defeat, Rozz accepts his assistance, and takes his hand.
