Chapter 1
All I could feel right now was pure pleasure.
I was sitting on my horse, Angel, over looking the beautiful sunset. My name is Chelsea and I live on a ranch, 5 minutes from town.
The scenery from this sweet hilltop was magnificent. The loping hills and soft flow of the creek below, were breath-taking.
I gave the sunset one last glance, before I jumped off the side of the cliff. As we landed, Angel and I galloped off towards the ranch.
Anthony was cleaning my fathers stock saddle when I came cantering into the stockyards."Sup, Chels!" he called out as I swung myself off the horse.
"Nothing much, but that view from Horseback Hill was gorgeous! The sun was in the perfect position, and everything!" I exclaimed.
He then said bye and took off with the saddle into the barn. I followed him to put Angel to bed. I can't believe that view. It was everything about that sunset, that made me think that everything was alright. My family and I were horse ranchers, and our money came from western, and outback riders that come to buy our horses.
I gave Angel a bucket of feed, before walking into the house. Mum was cooking something that smelled so good. I walked up behind her, gave her a kiss, and looked at what was for dinner.
"Mmm, Spaghetti bolognese! Thanks, mum!" The delicious smell wafted up into the house, and suddenly, big footsteps were heard.
Dad was coming down.
My dad was a strongly built person, with a brain like a potato. In other words, he is quite stubborn. He was 62, which explained the wrinkles and rough marks on his skin. He had a big burn gash up the inside of his lower left leg. He got caught in a fire at work, one day, and came out scorched. He healed up pretty good though, which is good for his age. He trains, rides and sells our horses. My older brother, Brett, goes with him, along with Anthony and Sid. My mother and I look after the foals and ride our horses.
We all sat down at the rough glass table, and ate our dinner in silence.
Sid eventually broke the silence,"So, boss, when do we get the mares up?"
Getting the mares up from the lower fields was a big task, which involved 3 men and a dog. The dog, Jess, was a clever little pup right from the beginning. She was my Christmas present one year, and the whole family has adored her ever since. She couldn't even jump out of a milk crate when she was a few weeks old. Dad was talking to the boys while I completely zoned out and just ate my dinner.
After dinner, everyone went into the living room to watch 'Mrs Browns Boys',while I went upstairs to do some homework. I go to Claudsford State High School, and have got quite a bit of homework and studying to do.
I work on my studies for 2 hours, and end up feeling really tired.
I brush my teeth, and tumble into my soft bed. I fall into a deep sleep and have a dreamless night.
I wake up to the sunlight shining brightly into the room. Mom has been in here, because I clearly remember pulling those white curtains shut last night. Also, my school work has been neatly placed on the shelves of my desk. I sit up, and think about what I'm going to do today. It's a Saturday and my brother and father are in town picking up fencing tools and other boy toys. My mother should be out doing the food shopping, but Anthony and Sid will probably still be here.
I get up, get dressed into a white cotton shirt and jeans, and walk out into the brightly lit hallway. Walking down the stairs, I think about the new foals coming into the home paddock. Misty should have a foal, as well as Sunshine and Coco. We have quite a lot of horses so we don't name all of them, but there are 7 that we all love dearly. There is Angel, Misty, Sunshine, Big Gun, Moonsana, Coco and Billy.
I walk into the kitchen and find a plate of steaming scrambled egg and bacon. Taking the plate, I skip outside to the wooden bench. Mmmm, this egg is brilliant, and it must be from our chickens. Yes, we have chickens, 15, in fact. We usually get around twelve, to fourteen eggs a day, and then we sell them to our neighbors. We live on the outskirts of town, so we don't have that many neighbors, but they all seem to like our eggs.
I finished my breakfast, and wandered out to the barn. Three horses poked their heads out of the stables. Angel, Moonsana and Big N were eating their breakfast, when I stumbled into the big red barn. I went to Angel and fed her a carrot, stroking her as she munched away.
Anthony came into the barn and started cleaning the bridles, when I came out the entrance.
"Hiya, Anthony! It really is a nice day, isn't it?"
"Sure is,sweetheart. Uh, where's ya mama? I need to speak to her about her bridle." he spoke as he held up my mothers bridle.
It's black leather, with sparkly rhinestones in the browband. She has another one just for shows, but is is covered in pretty hot pink and navy rhinestones and ribbon. It looked gorgeous when it was on Moonsana. Moonsana is a Spanish Horse so she's got a big fluffy mane and tail, and is big boned.
"Moms not here. She went food shopping." I said.
I left the barn, with a rug, and brought it into the bathroom to be washed. Mum has already filled up the tub, she just said to put the rug in it. I did as I was asked and put the rug in the bathtub.
Knocking, suddenly, went through the house. I went to open the door, but Sid had gotten there before me. A young man, stood at the door, asking for eggs. He had a strong build but didn't look like a body builder and he had chocolate brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. He stared at me for quite a time before he spoke.
" Hi, I'm Nick. I live next door.
