Friday-

He stood at the edge of the building. The wind blew slightly and ruffled his hair.

It was nighttime so none could really see up that high. He had already planned everything out, the place, the time, and the note...

The sky was covered with black clouds wishing for rain any minute. The thunder rang deep in the sky signaling the storm would start. He took a deep breath and started to count...

10.....

9.....

8.....

"Hey!"

He turned to find a man in a trench coat panting at the opened door to the roof.

"What are you doing?! It's dangerous! Get down from there!"

The man ran towards the boy and yanked him down from the ledge. He sat him on the concrete floor and up against the wall, He was still panting.

"You could've slipped and fe-" he stopped as he looked to his left and saw the boys shoes set perfectly side by side. He sighed deeply and picked up the shoes and handed them to the boy. "You should go home kid, you're family must be worried." He went to walk away but the boy didn't take the shoes that were handed to him. The man sat the shoes down and grabbed the boy's shoulders, "kid you don't know what you're doing, you should go home. Your family must be waiting for you to come home."

"No."

The man looked at the boy in confusion, "no?" The boy looked up at the man with dead eyes, "no family to return to"

"What?" The man was slightly confused by the boy's words, he had only a couple ideas of what this kid could mean by this sentence but didn't want to think on them. The boy looked the man in his eyes and mouthed the words, " I-M— A-L-O-N-E "

The man didn't want to think about what the boy would do if he just left him there. He stood up,  grabbed the boy's hand and shoes and dragged him towards the door back into the apartment building.
__

It so happened the man lived in that very apartment complex, that's how he saw the boy in the first place. He was coming home from working and the thunder from the clouds surprised him that he looked up from the sidewalk and saw a figure standing on the edge of the rooftop. The man wasn't sure what overcame him to run to the roof and attempt to stop this person from whatever they were planning on doing but he did. Now after all that he had lead this boy to his apartment to keep an eye on him until he could contact the boy's family.

The boy was sitting on the man's sofa staring blankly at his hands. The man stood up and cleared his throat. "Are you hungry? I'm not the best cook but I can make some mad ramen" The boy didn't look up at this statement and only continued to stare into his hands. Not knowing what to do the man shrugged while walking into his kitchen and started making something to eat, he didn't care if the boy wouldn't respond to him but no one could resist some nice hot ramen.
___

The older man was out of sight when the boy decided to look up at his surroundings. The apartment wasn't much, it was plain and simple with the front door being on his right, as he sat on the couch facing a stand with a large tv attached to it. The coffee table was only inches away from his legs and other chairs surrounded the table. There was a small divide which he could only assume led to a kitchen on the opposite side. There were two other doors on the opposite wall from the divider. One probably led to a bedroom and another the bathroom. He thought of standing up and checking around but he didn't have enough willpower to move from the sofa. He slumped back in the seat and rested his head on the cushion, staring at the ceiling. It wasn't the most beautiful color ceiling but it was a nice shade of grey. He closed his eyes and thought about the events that had just unfolded, Maybe if he had just not counted, maybe if he wasn't so scared, maybe if the man didn't come, maybe he could've-

"OkAy I know you might not be hungry but I am so feel free to dig in!" The man came back from the kitchen with a big pot of ramen mixed with vegetables and seasoning. He set the pot down on a heating pad on the coffee table and set down two bowls and sets of chopsticks. The boy opened his eyes and sighed in annoyance. "Why is he so loud" he thought to himself as he slowly lifted his head up. The weight of his head felt like a bowling ball on his shoulders. Slouching forward he glared at the man who seemed so happy to be eating plain old ramen. Glancing down at the thing one would call "food" the boy breathed in the fumes the pot was producing. The boy's body defied him and gave out a low grumble. The man looked up from his food and breathed a chuckle at the boy. "Don't tell me you're not hungry after I just heard that." The boy looked away his cheeks turning dark pink with embarrassment. The man took the second pair of chopsticks and bowl and fished out a serving of the ramen and placed it in-front of the boy. The man went back to eating as the boy slowly sat down on the floor and picked up his bowl of ramen. Skeptical at first the boy took a small sip of the soup.

The man had stopped eating and was now staring at the boy who had finally started eating. He watched as the boy's eyes lit up a small bit as he started shoveling the ramen into his mouth. The man began to smile at this cute childish act from the boy.

Once they had finished eating, the man picked everything off of the coffee table and set them in the kitchen sink. He opened the door to his bedroom and rummaged around until he found a nice pair of pajamas he had never worn. He quickly headed back into the main room and set the clothes down next to the boy. "You can wear these, I'll sleep on the couch, you can sleep in my bed for the night." Before the boy could say anything the man opened the door to the bathroom and threw the boy a towel. "You can take a shower too just don't use too much water kid" The man smiled wide while the boy got up from his seat and stepped into the bathroom with a set of pajamas and a towel.
_____

The boy stepped out of the bathroom in the oversized clothes ruffling his hair dry. The man was already fast asleep sprawled out on the couch. The boy draped the towel around his neck and slowly walked over to observe the man who had "saved" him.

He wasn't a very attractive man but he wasn't bad looking either. His hair was a dark brown color styled into a messy pompadour. He didn't have facial hair but he had a nice 5 o'clock shadow. The boy wasn't able to see the color of the mans eyes since he was asleep but the blanket was slightly off of him so he could see the man's toned muscles through his shirt. The boy stepped back when the man moved a little. The boy went into the man's bedroom and sat on the bed, he was supposed to be dead... what was he going to do now?
