As usual, I sat passively on the opposite side of the table with nothing to occupy my time. Despite a whole day and night spent hunting, Namjoon remained motionless on the floor when I glanced at him. While Jin attended to Namjoon's needs, Jungkook secluded himself in his room. While Taehyung casually sipped his tea, showing no interest in learning the basics, Hoseok and I engaged in a strategic chess game.
Just as I was about to make my move, the doors abruptly banged shut, making a significant noise. Namjoon, still with his eyes closed, perked up his ears and lifted his head. His curiosity, as always, got the better of him. Jin, seated beside Namjoon, stood up and headed towards the door. Opening the metal doors, he looked down to find a wolf carrying a woman. The woman was clad in a dirty, black cloak and appeared quite petite.
Jin inquired, "Who is that?"
The response came, "She washed up on the shore while I was hunting near the riverbed at the east border. Initially, she confused me for a dead deer. However, it turns out she's just a regular human. She isn't doing well, though. The scent of blood, dirt, and river water clings to her, and she bears the scent of Lycus."
"Lycus' scent?" I executed a move on the chessboard, and my voice reverberated behind Jin and the others. "And who is this girl you speak of?"
"A human girl."
"A human?" I inquired, turning to face him. However, my eyes widened as I stole a quick glance in their direction.
It was her—the person from the forest.
"She carries Lycus's scent," Taehyung stated, moving to the front and standing alongside Jin. "That girl is from Magnus... Where is Lycus, anyway?"
Taking a seat on my throne and crossing my legs, I commanded, "Bring her to me."
Jin and Taehyung made space for the wolf and the unfamiliar woman, who seemed to bear the distinct odor of Lycus. Jin granted permission for the wolf to return to his pack after he carefully removed the woman from his back. The wolf nodded and swiftly departed to rejoin his companions.
Jin gently lowered the woman onto one of the couches on the side while cradling her in his arms. Surprisingly, she wasn't lifeless; instead, she was immobile and unconscious. Reacting instinctively, she pushed Jin away upon regaining consciousness and stood up. It was evident that she was not fully aware of her surroundings, seemingly trapped in her subconscious. Her eyes carried weariness and emptiness, her disheveled hair resembling a nest of birds. She bore the signs of enduring agony, torture, sleepless days and nights, harsh winters, and scorching summers. Despite her evident state of dehydration and malnourishment, her sharp, distinctive features shone through. I had to admit, she was beautiful.
