For my sculpture project, I decided to make the villain Harley Quinn, notoriously known for her role in the 2016 movie "Suicide Squad", and who has also appeared in many DC comic books. Here is the story of how she became the way she is.
Harley Quinn, originally known as Harleen Frances Quinzel, is usually known for being the Joker's love interest and partner in crime. She met him while she was an intern at Gotham City's resident insane asylum. During her time working there, she fell madly in love with him and countlessly tried to help him escape the asylum. Eventually, Harleen becomes the Joker's sidekick and changes her name to what it is now; Harley Quinn. Even though the Joker hurt her multiple times, she went back to him, convinced that he loved her. Basically, this is your typical case of a toxic relationship.
Now here is where my depiction of Harley Quinn's story goes a little off script. For a few years, Harley and the Joker ran around Gotham City causing mischief as per usual. Then, the Joker had a relapse of the mental illness that caused him to be in the asylum in the first place and went crazy. Harley becomes scared and her former doctor self kicks in and tries to help him but the Joker won't have any of it. He got progressively fed up with Harley until he got set off of the edge and kills her. After he realized what he had done, he ran away, never to be heard of again.
What the Joker didn't know was that Harley cannot be permanently killed. When she "dies", she just ends up reincarnating into another version of herself. This time, she became a demon. The only physical change that she went through was her eye color while everything else remained the same. Instead of having crystal blue eyes, she now has soulless, demonic, black ones. Although she wasn't classified as a true villain before this, she definitely is now. With these visual changes, she had a major personality shift as well. She was a sweet, motherly person who occasionally got herself into illegal shenanigans. Then, she became a mean-spirited, revenge-driven woman due to all of the trauma that the Joker caused her while they were together. She will stay this way until she "dies" again and reincarnates into a Poltergeist-type of creature. This has been my rendition of Harley Quinn's origin story.
