I sighed, leaning forward on my desk. The school day seemed to drag on for way too long. I glanced to my left at one of my best friends, Queenie Carlson, who was most likely off in her fantasy world as she stared at the back of my other best friend, Xia Baker's, head.

Xia was staring at the board in utter confusion, most likely not being able to keep up with the teacher or understand the gibberish on said board. I glanced down at the drawings in my notebook, the rattlesnake sketch staring me dead in the eye.

"Get into groups and finish this worksheet," the teacher droned, handing out a piece of paper with a bunch of equations on it. "It's due by the end of class."

I glanced over at Queenie and Xia who high fived each other and looked over at me. We gathered our stuff and made our way to a corner of the room. "How's the beast project going with Shockwave?" Xia asked.

"He said the mammals are almost complete, he's working on the reptiles right now," I replied.

"Nice, what reptiles did Megs go with?" Queenie asked.

"Uh... the alligator, crocodile, rattlesnake, chameleon, Gila monster, and komodo dragon," I replied, flipping through my notebook.

"Haha, good luck getting DNA from a komodo dragon," Xia chuckled, glancing down at the sheet. "Also what language is on this paper?"

"It's math, and I'll help you with it," I sighed.

After what felt like an eternity of working we finished and turned it in and returned to our little corner away from the rest of the class. My phone buzzed, so I quickly looked at it. I smiled upon realizing it was a picture of my young half-sister, Julia, holding a snake at the pet store she loved to go to.

"Also, Xia, Shockwave said you're gonna help get the komodo dragon DNA," I chuckled.

"What?! Why me?" she whined, low enough so she didn't draw attention to us.

"Do you honestly want an answer to that?" Queenie asked, not looking up from her phone.

"No, I just want to be dramatic," she shrugged, leaning her weight back on her hands. I rolled my eyes at her dramatic whining.  The bell rang signaling the end of the day, finally, and we made our way outside along with everyone else.

"So who's picking us up today?" Queenie asked, skipping after me and Xia as we made our way to a tree away from the rest of the people.

"I think Dreads said it was gonna be Breakdown, Shadow, or Bill," Xia replied. "But I don't remember who."

We watched the 'Bots pull up to get their charges, while pretending not to notice them. Queenie's phone buzzed, and she groaned seeing it was a message from her mother.

"What'd she say?" Xia asked, subtly leaving claw marks in the tree bark.

"Apparently," she growled. "The whole family is here for a reunion."

Xia made a disgusted sound while sticking her tongue out. "No offense, but your family is awful," she commented.

"Eh, it's the truth," Queenie shrugged, opening a different app on her phone. I looked up at the sky, and then around to the 'Bots. They were half way down the street by the time my eyes landed on them.

"Bill's here," I stated, glancing at my phone. "And he says the mammals are fully complete and ready to be revealed."

"Alright, let's go see those little buggers!" Xia chirped, pushing herself off the tree. The three of us made our way to an alleyway where a vehicon was sitting in his vehicle mode, trying to be sneaky with a different color palette from the usual purple and black.

"Nice paint job there Bill," I chuckled.

"Frag! How'd you know?" he asked, moving forward slightly.

"You're the one Shockwave is using to test his prototype color swap tech," I replied. He grumbled and opened his doors. "If you want to be sneaky, try choosing a color scheme that doesn't give you away."

"Yeah, yeah. Rub it in, but you know I'm not the most creative of the group," he grumbled, driving off into the desert.

"Changing the subject. When is Shockers gonna need that reptile DNA?" Xia asked from the backseat. "'Cause I wanna make sure I'm prepared to go up against a freaking komodo dragon."

"I think he said he was gonna start on the reptiles sometime next week," he replied, as a ground bridge opened in front of them. "I don't remember the exact day though."

On the other side of the ground bridge we were met with a small spook. A cybertronian leopard looked straight at us as we hopped out. It sniffed us as Bill transformed and returned his colors to the normal purple and black. "So how was school?" Knockout chuckled leaning on the wall.

"YOU DIDN'T MENTION THE MAMMALS WERE ALREADY OUT!" I yelled, spooking the leopard slightly as I turned to glare daggers at the vehicon.

"Yeah, I wanted it to be a small surprise," he admitted. "So uh... surprise!"

A/N: Whoop! This is the first rewritten chapter of this story! There are going to be some big changes, like Xia being really crappy with technology since she grew up in the '50's in Louisiana, the 'Bots are gonna get a demon who was captured by M.E.C.H, Xia has a pet Hellhound she named Squishy, and the beasts are coming in groups based on what kingdom they're in (mammal, reptile, bird, and general aquatic animals). Other than that, the plot's gonna be close to the original story. Beasts, demons, and general chaos.
