Chapter Nine: Stupid Nott

LUNA'S POV

"Luna!" I looked up from my book and watched Cho run over; her books smacking together as she ran. She quickly sat across from me and smiled; waiting for me to ask her why she was so happy.

But, instead I looked back down at my book; eating another slice of my orange.

"Hello Cho"

"Hey Luna" it was quite for a couple of minutes and I actually managed to finish a couple of pages before I was interrupted again.

"Aren't you going to ask why I'm so excited?!" I looked up at Cho in amusement; she looked funny sitting there with large eyes and rosy cheeks. I closed my book and put it in my bag; taking time while doing it; I could feel her foot tapping on the floor; it grew faster the longer I was taking. Finally I set my bag on the ground and folded my hands on the table; smiling up at her.

"What's making you so happ-"

"-Harry asked me out" my mouth hung wide open before I smiled; grabbing her hands and squeezing them.

"That's great Cho! I knew he liked you!" she blushed and looked over at the Gryffindor table; I turned and looked seeing Harry already staring at us; or Cho I should say. He choked on his drink and tried to smile at us; but he must not have completely swallowed his drink because some leaked out onto his shirt. Cho and I giggled; looking at each other; Harry was too cute around her.

"Where are you guys going?"

"He's taking me to The Three Broomsticks and then to Honeydukes" she sighed and looked back over at Harry; waving at him.

"I'm happy for you Cho" she smiled at me but it soon turned to a smirk.

"What about you and Malfoy?"

"What about Malfoy and I?" she rolled her eyes,

"I heard about how he had to carry you to the Hospital wing about a week ago" I waved her off,

"He had too, I couldn't walk there myself otherwise I would've fainted" her smirk still didn't leave,

"But I bet you liked him carrying you there" I blushed and her smirk grew,

"I rest my case" I scoffed,

"Cho you can't just say stuff that would make just about anyone blush in the first place; of course I appreciated Draco carrying me but if that's it" she shook her head,

"You can't be in denial forever Luna"

"Oh whatever Cho; we need to be focusing on you and Harry; Hogsmeade is this weekend right? We have to figure out an outfit for you" her eyes widened; I guess she didn't realize how close her date was. Luckily she seemed to forget about the topic of Draco and I.

"How come I didn't realize this sooner?" I chuckled and grabbed her hand; standing her up.

"Come on we better decide now; we have a Charms test in a couple of days remember? We won't have any other time to do it" she nodded and we headed out to the Ravenclaw tower.

DRACO'S POV

I watched her leave; skipping alongside Chang. Her hair bounced freely and she had a smile on her face. I felt someone tap me and I looked over; seeing Nott looking at me with a smirk.

"Staring at Loony Lovegood are you?" I rolled my eyes and turned to Blaise who was on my other side; we didn't really like Nott. He was known for trying to pick up every girl he could get; and he was also known for his mouth. Which I feel like I was going to experience soon,

"That's fine Draco no need to be ashamed; at least there's one good thing the crazies are known for; crazy in bed" I lunged forward but Blaise grabbed me before I could land a punch on him. Nott jumped back and looked at me with a frown,

"Looks like she passing the crazy onto you"

"Just stay away from me Nott!" he smirked,

"I wonder if Lovegood knows how protective you are of her" I narrowed my eyes at him,

"What are you getting at Nott"

"Well I might just have to pay a visit and-" I grabbed him by the collar and shoved him up against the table.

"You stay away from her Nott; you don't want to mess with me" his smirk grew and he chuckled a bit.

"You just made a big mistake Malfoy" I clenched my teeth; Blaise grabbed me and I let go of Nott; backing up and letting him get up. He dusted off any wrinkles that I created in the clothing.

"You better watch your back Malfoy and your crazy girlfriend" I took a step forward but didn't attack again; I needed to calm down. The dark lord does not need to know how I'm acting right now; otherwise he'll use it against me.

"Whatever" I shoved my way out of Blaise's hold and stormed out of the great hall.

"Bastard" I cursed down the hall; gripping my hair I slid down the wall and pushed my knees close to my chest.

Why did I care so much for Luna? What made her so special that I felt I had to keep her safe all the time? I pulled my hair and groaned; I was so confused.

"Draco" I looked up and saw Snape looking down at me; a frown on his face.

"Draco what on earth are you doing? Have you even gotten close to finishing the cabinet?" I looked away from him; Snape told my mom that he would keep an eye on me; though it was more of a nuisance having him everywhere.

"Yes"

"Don't lie to me Draco; I'm trying to help you. You can't be getting distracted at a time like this"

"Who says I'm getting distracted" he gave me a 'really?' look,

"I don't think there was anyone in the Great Hall who didn't see your performance on standing up to Ms. Lovegood. But Draco, you can't get distracted; you have a task that you have to finish" I rolled my eyes,

"I know but it's not that easy you know; every time I try and do it there's always something that goes wrong. I wish I was never assigned to this" he grabbed my shoulders,

"Well you don't have any other choice Draco; you either do it or die do you want to die? Because I know your mother doesn't, this is why she wanted me to help you. I can help you with the cabinet you just have to stop being so stubborn" I shook my head,

"No I don't want your help, I can do it on my own" with that I turned and began my way back to the dungeons.

"You need to distance yourself from her before it's too late Draco" I looked back at him and we locked eyes; I held his stare before I turned away and made my way around a corner; disappearing.

I didn't want to stop talking to Luna; in fact I'm having the best time that I've ever had at Hogwarts and it's all because of her.

I don't feel like listening to Snape.

I don't feel like listening to my parents.

And I definitely don't feel like listening to Voldemort.
