"COMING OUT PARTY?" lillie laughed loudly as rory rolled her eyes.
"shut up. my grandparents made it sound fun."
"i didn't know you felt this way rory. do you have feelings for me?" lillie gasped as she covered her cheeks, pretending to blush.
rory punched her friend in the arm. "stop it. will you come or not?" she sighed already regretting asking the girl. it wasn't like lillie was completely unacquainted with these types of events, her mother used to make her do similar things when her family actually had money.
"mm depends, do i have to dress up?" she narrowed her eyes as they entered the gilmore house.
"well unless you want everyone to mistake you as a waitress then yes, dressing up is advised." lillie groaned at rory's answer. "pretty please? i'll buy you those pencils you've been wanting!"
"that's not fairrrr. bribery is cheating." she whines. "but fine. i'll go. i'm sure i can find something to wear."
"oh you're going to rory's funeral- sorry uh, coming out party?" lillie nodded reluctantly. "oh don't worry about it. i'll make you a dress."
"really?!" lorelai nodded enthusiastically. "ah my very own lorelai gilmore, whatever did i do to get so lucky." she smiled brightly.
"i'm thinking...blue." lorelai smiled, tapping her chin in thought. lillie nodding eagerly in agreement. "i'll make a pocket for a gun for when you feel like shooting yourself in your head."
"i am eternally grateful." lillie said making rory roll her eyes at the pair's dramatics.
"you staying for dinner hun?" lorelai asked the blonde girl who shook her head.
"no i just came to get a book." she smiled as rory went into her room to get the book and gave it to her. "i'll see you later ror."
"bye." both of them said before lillie left. she made her way to the centre of town, choosing to read her book in the gazebo in the town square.
she read intently, forgetting about the world around her until someone else sat beside her, her eyes tore away from her book to see jess.
"hey bonnie." he greeted referring to their prank at the school the other night.
"clyde." a small smirk worked its way onto her face.
"watcha' reading?" he asked snatching the books out of her hands.
"hey!"
"atwood, huh?"
"you read it?"
"skimmed it." he said, giving it back to her. she shook her head with a smile, knowing he had read it.
she put the book in her back before tucking her legs up to sit cross legged on the bench facing the boy across from her. "you know, it's not uncool to read."
