Calm by Nathan Colberg

______

It seems like everything is starting to go back to normal again, at least somewhat back to normal. The only thing, though, is that there are some differences. I have a demon in my head. I'm combined to him, and that could kill me if I'm not careful. I've noticed a few other differences as well. Jessamyn is braver and doesn't get as dressed up as before. Chax is a bit taller, but I've noticed that he isn't as full of smiles or laughs as when I first met him. He seems quieter and more serious. Lebara and Zakary seem to be the same, except Lebara appear to be more lost in her thoughts. Sirius is still the hot-headed demon prince that I first met him, but he seems to act differently around me. I can't pinpoint if he's more protective or just possessive over me. I find it weird. I'm used to him always angry at me, that this new attitude towards me is strange. I don't know how to think or how I should feel. I feel confused and weird. Is this normal? Is this how soulmates supposed to feel? I don't know. I wish I had answers. I thought upsettingly.

"What's troubling you, Cordelia?" Cristobal asks from inside of my head.

"I don't know how to put it in words. I'm back from the dead, but everyone is different. Sirius acts different, and I don't know how I should feel or think about it." I tell Cristobal truthfully.

"It didn't seem to be that hard to put it in words. Cordelia, as the days, weeks, months, and years go by, people change. It just depends on them if it's for the better or for, the worse. I know you're confused now, but it will make sense in the end." Cristobal tells me.

"If you say so, Cristobal." I say, sighing.

"I told you, call me Cris." Cristobal tells me once again.

"Right. Sorry, Cris." I say, smiling a bit.

These past couple days seem to have flown by, but the one thing that's been in my mind lately is the arguments. I don't know what they are about, but my curiosity always gets piped when I hear them start. It's between Sirius and his father, Lucifer. Who would've guessed it? I'm not sure what this argument is about, but I sure as hell want to find out. I've found out that every time they argue, it's usually because Lucifer is trying to force Sirius into doing something. I'm not sure what he's trying to make him do now, but I still want to know. I'm still curious, and whatever Lucifer is trying to force him to do is probably not good. It never ends well, at least for everyone else.

"You seem quiet. Is everything alright Cordelia? Is there more that's bothering you?" Cristobal breaks my train of thought.

"I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind." I tell him.

"I know. I can feel you thinking, but I can't tell what your thinking. What's wrong?" Cristobal asks with concern.

"Well, I've just been curious about the arguments that have been happening a lot. I want to know what they are about and to be honest, there's you we still have to worry about." I tell him honestly.

"Me?" Cristobal asks shock.

"Yes, you. We still need to figure out a way to get you into a body. You don't want to stay in my head forever do you?" I ask him seriously.

"No of course not, but there aren't many options Cordelia," Cristobal tells me upsettingly.

"We will find another way. I'm not giving up on you Cris." I tell him determined.

"Thank you, Cordelia." Cristobal says, but I heard a bit of doubt in his voice.

I let out a sigh as I knew he's still doubting that we can save him completely. I still think that there's a way, but he doesn't think so. I've been trying to convince Cristobal that there has to be a way, but he just half-heartedly agrees. I know he's slowly losing hope every day, and every day there's more of a risk of me dying. I don't want to die again, but I don't want to lose Cristobal either. He's my friend. He helped me and protected me when I needed it, and the least I can do is help him get into his own body. Well, any sort of body. Sadly, his body had turned into dust the day he died. Which is still unknown to everyone. I will have to take a mental note to ask him later.
