Stefan Salvatore wiped the blood off his lip as he walked into the nightclub, surveying the scene before him from atop a balcony. The club Was alive with an upbeat jazz tune playing as couples and friends dance around the crowded halls. It's 1923, Chicago and the city is alive. He steps down his eye catching on a blonde dancing in a pink dress, her smile wild as she twirls round a boy who's eyes are full of light. A little to the left another couple sways laughing at the girls dancing. Moving over to the bar he orders a drink before joining the group of four with a smile.
"Want to be careful there Caroline, the poor boy you're dancing with might get the wrong idea" he said with a smirk.
"Oh do be quiet" she said with a strong upper London accent as she leant in to kiss him, "you know I only have eyes for you darling".
He kissed her back and swung her round, giggling as a slower song came on. She rested her head on her shoulder as she murmured
"I love you Stefan"
"I love you too"
And so the group of four, the three original Mikealsons - brother and sister Rebekah and Klaus with their cousin Caroline along with Stefan Salvatore, lived like this, in peace for just over a year. Whiling the day away together and dancing till two o'clock every night. It was a charmed life and one they hoped could last forever.
But nothing does.
