I looked up at the night sky. It was dark and empty like a lunar eclipse. Stars were nonexistent here. There were no people. Just stillness and quiet. I had never imagined it quite like this. No moon, no stars. Just space. I thought I was ready. Ready to be isolated but no one is. No one is ready to leave their family behind. To leave a world full of life and happiness. I left to find hope. There was none there. There is none here, just darkness and silence. Silence is different. I've never experienced silence like this. Just a black expanse of deafening silence. The cars, bugs, and wind is gone. All there is and will be is silence and the eternal darkness. I'm not completely alone. No, I have my mind and my music. My music of normal, worldly things. My music of life and love and... Something else. I don't know what and I don't where but it's there. Hiding, waiting for someone to find it, to explore it. Instead, we hide, afraid of losing ourselves, of losing our humanity when really humanity is a dream. We are so far off from being truly human that we, ourselves, are aliens amongst others of our own species. I don't know what will come of them or me but I know that I will fight. I will survive. If I don't, we are all dead.
