"Amazing", is the first thing I hear as I turn around.

I see two girls standing in the room applauding me for my performance.

"That was so incredible. You have so much talent", says the redheaded girl with the sparkling green eyes.

"I would kill to be able to dance like that", adds the blonde girl with the sky blue eyes.

"Thanks", I say feeling very flattered. "I'm not that good. We're probably on the same level or you wouldn't be going here."

"Believe me, you're amazing. You're better than most of the other dancers here. I can't believe my new roomie is such a great dancer", blondie says. "I'm Chloe Parker by the way."

"And I'm Avalon Marshall but everyone calls me Ava", the redhead adds excitedly. "Avalon is so not cool. I really don't know what my mom was thinking when she named me."

"I like it. It's unique."

"Thanks, but you don't have to lie to make me feel better."

"No really, it's a nice name."

"At least you appreciate my mother's love for unusual names. My sister's name is Remedy. She's actually a student here but she's younger than us. I'm guessing you're about seventeen, right?"

"Yeah, I just turned seventeen last month."

I hadn't even noticed when Chloe moved over to sit on the bed at the far end of the room, which must be her's considering it says "Chloe" above it.

"I must warn you from now that Ava is a talker. If you don't stop her now, she'll never stop."

I laugh before saying "I can see that".

The three of us start laughing altogether. I've never had friends before but I think this'll be a start.

"I can't help it if I love to talk", Avalon says grinning from ear to ear. "I almost forgot, welcome to Winter Dance Academy."

"Thanks."

"Umm I just realized we didn't get your name", Chloe says enthusiastically.

As I'm about to answer, the door opens. A tall, pale skinny girl walks in. Her dark brown hair is done in a neat bun and her eyes, which are a perfect match to her hair colour, lack friendliness.

"Are you girls my roommates?", she asks in a strict voice sounding more like a teacher than a teenage girl.

"I guess so", I respond feeling a little inferior.

"I'm Chloe Parker and this is Avalon Marshall. Welcome and I hope you'll enjoy your dance experience here and make a lot of friends."

"I'm Isabelle Roberts and I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to dance", she says, her tone getting colder by the second.

I don't feel like standing around anymore with this lifeless robot so I sit on my bed and start listening to some music to feel more at home. The last thing I hear is Avalon telling Isabelle that the only bed available is the one closest to the door.

I listen to music for about an hour before Chloe asks if I want to go get something to eat with her and Avalon.

I hesitantly agree, knowing Dad wants me to socialize more.
