We walk into the room about fifteen minutes after eight and the place is quiet. Isabelle is laying on her bed, reading a book. I look over to Leila's bed, and there she is. She has perfect dark brown curls, with none of it out of place, perfect skin with a perfect tan to go with it. She has beautiful hazel-green eyes and cherry lips. She looks like a model in her designer clothes.
"Oh here you are", she says in a worried tone. "I was really starting to worry about you girls. Well you seem to be okay", she says with a sigh of relief.
"Mhmm", Avalon says before she and Chloe walk towards their beds.
"I'm guessing you're my new roommate", she says looking at me. "I'm Leila Dale, the daughter of the famous Melissa and Patrick Dale. Welcome to Winter."
"Thanks. My name is River Daniels."
"River! That's so cool", she squeals. "I like you. Wanna be my new best friend?"
"Sure", I say not knowing what else to.
"Yay!", she squeals again, this time in an even more girlie tone than before.
She seems really nice. I guess Avalon and Chloe were wrong about her or they probably just don't understand her. But, then again, she might just be pretending. Nah, she seems really friendly.
I get ready for bed and when I am comfortable, I take out my phone to text Caroline.
River: I love this school already. I love my room and the students all seem nice so far, well except for one of my roommates. Her name is Isabelle and she's new like I am. She seems a lot more focused on dance than I am. Is that even possible? My three other roommates Chloe, Leila and Avalon seem nice though. Avalon and Chloe are best friends but they hate Leila who's such a darling. Anyways, I have to go to bed now. Give Dad and the twins hugs and kisses for me please.
After sending the message, I decide to forward it to my mother, minus the Dad and twins part.
I'm lost in thoughts and fall asleep shortly after.
* * * *
"River, time to get up", Leila says.
"But I don't wanna get up. I wanna sleep."
She takes the covers from off me and looks fabulous in her designer pajamas. I really don't understand how she manages to look so perfect even when she just wakes up.
"River. Please get up. I want you to spend the day with me. Please? You promised to be my best friend."
I can't take her whining any longer so I sit up and say "okay, you win."
Leila has a satisfied smile on her face and I can tell she's used to getting what she wants.
"What time is it by the way?"
"6 a.m. Make sure you're ready by seven. Wear something nice, like a day dress."
I don't like getting up early when I don't have to. I hope my day will be worth it. I wonder what Leila has planned for the day.
When I get up to go look for something to wear, I see Isabelle doing stretches. And they say I'm dance obsessed. Isabelle is worse than I am. We have a free day and she gets up early to dance? I mean, there's nothing wrong with using your free time to get some extra work done, but seriously, it's early in the morning! People normally do something called sleeping!
I find a yellow dress and blue sandals along with blue accessories. I place them on my bed and head over to the bathroom. Luckily, at Winter, two rooms share one bathroom, so it's better than other schools where the entire dorm shares one.
