Twenty-two year old Amelia Rose heard the door unlock, then her mum and dad's hushed voices. She crept to the top landing of the stairs and listened in on the conversation from behind a wall.

"I don't know...dangerous...you think...Cybermen...Daleks...not even in this universe...impossible...Jack?...

"Doctor."

The Doctor. Amelia had heard this name so many times, but she had no idea who he was. Some people called her father 'Doctor,' but she knew there was someone else. And she knew, from years of eavesdropping on her parents at night when she was supposed to be sleeping, that The Doctor has saved many people many times. But her mum would never explain. Whenever anyone brought up the topic, Rose Tyler would glare at them and tell them to either drop the topic or leave the room.

"Amy!" her mum shouted. Amy squeaked and fell to the floor after she lost her grip on the wall she was holding on to. She looked up to see her mum glaring at her and her dad frowning.

"Ello," the blonde said sheepishly. Rose sighed.

"How many times have I told you not to eavesdrop? You have an awful habit of doing that."

"Sorry, Mum. It's just... I have a feeling you're keeping more secrets from me than you should be." John Smith-Tyler glanced at Rose, whose jaw tightened.

"My secrets are none of your business, Amelia. They're secret for a reason," she said quietly. Amy sighed in exasperation. "Your father and I need to discuss something important. Go to your room, please." Amy rolled her eyes, got up from the floor, and straightened out her clothes.

"I'm 22, Mum. Please, stop telling me to go to my room. I'll just go out." She went down the stairs, put on her usual attire of combat boots and a worn leather jacket, and grabbed her car keys. "See you later," she said, kissing both of her parents on the cheek and leaving the house.

"Amy!" Rose called as she was getting into the car. Amy looked up and raised her eyebrows. "Where's Mickey?" Amy shrugged.

"Doesn't he have work?" Amy asked, but Rose shook her head. "Maybe he's at the pub. There's a match on today." Rose nodded and shut the door. Amelia thought that Mickey had always been Mum's favorite. Always did what he was told without question. Never got into any trouble. Went into granddad's business just like he was expected to. Never eavesdropped, was never curious about anything, and had absolutely no mind of his own. Her poor brother was an absolute Mummy's Boy. It was sickening.

It was obvious that Rose Tyler never approved of anything her little Amelia did, even when she was a kid. She always wanted to wear something else, always went off on her own, always wanted to do her own thing. Amy didn't want to work for grandad. She loved him dearly, but that business just wasn't for her. It was too... boring. Too stable. The adventurous young lady wanted a job that she would actually enjoy. She knew what she wanted, and she always got it, one way or another. She wanted a job with excitement! Something where she could save people. Change the world. Business meetings, tight suits, and experimentations with juice just wasn't her thing. Although there were the rare explosions in granddad's chem lab.

But it wasn't enough.

Amy was jolted out of my daydream when her mobile went off. She looked at the caller ID, grinned, and pulled over before answering. "Elloo, Aaron!" she hollered.
