She spotted him from across the room.He was leaning against the bar, drink in hand. His head bobbed withthe music, and he was smiling looking out at the dance floor. Herheart rate jumped a few beats as she watched him. His eyes scannedthe room until they met hers. She smiled at him and looked away, feeling her face heat up as she blushed. She looked back a momentlater and saw a woman with him. Her arms were draped over hisshoulders, and she was leaning up to kiss him.
Her heart sank a little at the site.He was taken. She wasn't the type to get in the way of arelationship, no matter how bad she wanted someone. She had come outwith her friends with the intention of getting lucky though, so shestarted to look for other prospects. She walked over to her group, and they made their way to the dance floor. She scanned the room asshe walked, and smiled to herself when more than a few eyes turned towatch her.
She had dressed to kill tonight. Shewore a tight, black shirt, cut low and showing plenty of skin. Hertight beige skirt fell to mid thigh and showed off her toned thighs. Her red hair fell in waves over her shoulders, and she cursed herselffor not tying it up. She stepped out onto the dance floor and startedmoving to the music, her hips swaying seductively. Her friendslaughed and joked as they danced, pointing to guys and makingcomments.
Her eyes found him again, and his eyeswere glued to her. He watched as her hips rolled, and she smiled athim, backing up to one of her friends and grinding against her. Hereturned the smile, but flushed and looked away, realizing that hehad been caught. She shrugged and turned around, dancing with herfriends once more.
"Oh god, Anne is here!" her friendcalled over the music.
"What!? Where?" she called back
"Shes at the bar with a guy." herfriend, Jessy yelled.
She turned around and looked at thebar. Anne was the one person that she hated more than anyone. She hadmade her life hell since high school. Anne had been the popular girl, and she had been in the outcast crowd. Her red hair and frecklesearned her nothing but bullying back then, and it hadn't been untilcollege that she had grown into her body and looks. Anne stilllooked, much, the same, her blonde hair falling in golden curls downher back. She wore tight, light colored jeans, and a white tank top.
Her arms were draped over his neck, and she stood looking up at him. He smiled as he looked down at her, leaning down and saying something into her ear. As he straightened,he looked over Anne's head and met her eyes again. He flashed her aquick smile, then looked back at Anne.
A thought occurred to her. What if shecould get payback? How good would it feel to turn the tables? Afteryears of torment, this was her chance to make Anne feel how she hadfelt so many times.
"Lily! Forget her, shes notbothering us yet, lets dance!" Jessy yelled.
Lily turned away from the bar and keptdancing, doing her best to move her hips and butt in the mostseductive way she knew how. After a moment, she felt hands on herhips, and looked over her shoulder. A short man, no taller than her, stood there. He smiled at her, and his drunk eyes sparkled. He wasn'ttotally ugly, and she had to give him credit for having the balls toapproach her. She backed into him and started dancing on him, rubbingagainst him. He had surprisingly good rhythm and balance for someonewho was clearly drunk. As the song ended, she turned to the man andsmiled.
"You're pretty good, bro." shesaid to him, holding her hand out for a high five.
She saw the disappointment in his faceat the gesture. He slapped her hand, and turned to walk away. Sheturned to her friends.
"Lets go get a drink, I'm thirsty."she suggested.
The night went on, drinks flowed, andthe group of girls slowly grew smaller as they all went off withtheir new 'friends'. As Lily was walking back from the bar, she madeeye contact with him again. She smiled, and felt her face flushagain. He smiled back and nodded to her, raising his drink in a mocktoasting movement. She giggled as she sat down at the table with herremaining friends.
