Politician

Four days had passed nung magkita kami ni Klaus.He said he had to go back to the Philippines dahil mayroong problema ang lolo niya.

I was eating the take out food I bought from a famous restaurant here in New York.Nakakailang subo palang ako,nakita kong tumawatawag si Soleil.

"Do you have any more information about the Riegos?" She asked hopefully

I was about to say no,pero naalala ko ang pinag usapan namin ni Dad kahapon.Alam ko na I really shouldn't tell her because it will stress her out.But she also needs to know,whats happening to Raoul's work.

"Frozen daw lahat ng projects ni Raoul sa VHRV,ayon kay Dad! He's just there as a major investor. Sayang ang kakayahan niya!" I said answering some of her curiosity.

"Tingin mo...sinabi niya sa Mama niya na...kami?" Nag aalinlangan niyang tanong.

I sighed."Di ko alam...Leil,pero hula ko...oo." She looked down on her keyboard with a half open mouth as if she's confused on what to do.

Wala pa akong balak bumalik ng Pinas.Kasi alam ko na if I go back to the Philippines,I will just be reminded of how stupidly inlove I was to a guy I don't even know fully.Just his name.Not identity.

Pero dahil miss na miss ko na si Soleil,I went back to the Philipppines 9 months after.Only to be updated that she and Raj broke up.

I know she's busy with work and we'll have to meet at 4 pm but its only 12pm nang binisita ko siya.Masyado ako madaming pasalubong sakanya,because I saw loads of good stuff I know she'll love to have.

"You what?" Panimula ko nang matapos siyang magkwento.

Hindi niya ako pinansin at nanatili lang ang mata sa screen ng computer niya.Nilapag ko ang mga paper bags sa harapan ng table.

"You did something stupid while I was away!" I declared.

Huminga siya ng malalim at pagod akong tinignan.She stood up para yakapin ako,which made me confused.But I hugged her back.

Alam ko naman na masakit para sakanya ang nangyayari.Pero hindi ko matanggap na hindi niya muna ako nilapitan bago niya ginawa ang isang malaking desisyon na iyon.

"I missed you," Napapaos niyang sinabi.By her voice alam kong pagod na siya.

Dahil alam ko kung ano ang pakiramdam ng sakit na nararanasan niya,I couldn't help but to be sad for her.Kaya naiyak ako para sakanya.She was about to let go of the hug pero mas niyakap ko pa siya.para iparamdam na nandito lang ako.

After our dramatic hug,nag explain siya kung anong nangyayari at kung bakit sila nasa bakasyunan kasama ang mga Ledesma.Habang nag kkwento siya,I saw her bracelet.Causing me to throw her wrist away from me.

"You're kidding me?"I said causing me to throw her wrist away.She smiled sadly.

"Soleil,maganda dun sa New York.Dadalhin kita dun kapag wala ka na masyadong work!The city is clean,people are nice tsaka maraming gwapo!" I clapped my hands.

"Mapa guard man o di kaya vendor ng mga street food.Mag eenjoy ka dun for sure.." I tried to smile.

She looked at me seriously,"Are you happy there?"

I shook my head. "No...well,not completely.Mas lalo lang ako nakungkot dun!" I laughed trying to lighten up the mood.

"Wala ka kasi dun eh,the reason why I was sad kasi wala akong kadamay dun mag watch ng hollywood movies.."

She touched mg hand,and I know na alam niya nang hindi ayun ang rason ko.

I sighed."Hindi ko lang maintindihan...Why would I be sad for that petty reason?Its just a guy.Hindi ako nawawalan ng lalaki...pero he..he got me real bad..at sobrang nalulungkot ako dun..."

She said something that encouraged me."Gino,he just doesn't see the real you.Ang nakita niya lang sayo ay isang batang mayaman na mayabang.He was too blind to even notice how kind hearted you are..."

I asked her about the bracelet and what she answerd made me a little envy.The man she love,loves her too.She's more than lucky to have a man love her back.Kasi hindi naman lahat ng tao minamahal pabalik..

"You're crazy! Ilan ang nangangarap sa mahal nila na mahalin sila pabalik,Leil? At ikaw na maswerteng minahal pabalik,
ganyan lang gagawin mo?"

Soleil grew up as the Lady of Light.She's not very familiar of my politician family at kung ano ang mga nararanasan ko.Kaya nang maka receive ako ng death threat,siya pa ang mas natakot kaysa saakin.

"It's going to be worse than this once my Dad makes it to the Senate!" I said after reading the death threat from an unknown sender.

She touched my shoulders,"Kaya dapat ka nang nasa Manila,Cres,dahil doon mas marami ang security ng Daddy mo.."

Nagkibit balikat ako,noy really minding what she said,"I can say that it's better here,Leil.Ako lang ang binabantayan ng security kumpara sa Manila kasama pa si Mommy,Daddy at Kuya,pati ang mga pinsan ko.Though my father,it's because he's running for the Senate.And for some of my cousins,they have threats because if having too much money.."

I explained to her how my world works with my father as a politician.She said it was too dangerous for me to be out here,with no enough security.Little did she know I do have too much security.Pinag tatago ko nga lang.

"If I were you,Cres,I'll go to Manila to be with my family.Kasi dun maraming security.Kaya mas safe dun."

I shook my head "No, Leil.the more Lopez,the more security,the more dangerous.The less Lopez,more security.less danger.Mas mag fofocus ang mga kalaban sa marami kaysa sa onti...that's just how it works...politicians eh."
