You are frozen. At the same measure all of time exists in front of you. However, all of time also exists behind you.
Everyone is frozen as you move through the crowded mall. Upon stumbling into the food court you find to see that all of the liquids continue to remain suspended in there "spots" as well.
Your mind begins to race with all that may or may not have happened. "Could this be death?" you ponder. Your breathing begins to fall staggered and short. You wonder "How could this happen?"
In the distance you begin to hear the ticking of a clock. So like any person would in such situation; you follow it. Only, it seems to never get quieter or louder. Just keeps ticking away like it's in the back of your head.
Now your palms begin to get sweaty. Everything is swirling around you. A seat is what you need. You sit down with your hands on your knees.
"How do I fix this?"
"Is it always going to be like this now?"
"Is there anyone else who is un-frozen"
So many questions. The biggest is: how much time do you have left? Will you age in this position forever or will this be for eternity? Only time can tell.
You sit while catching your breath and sitting down. Eventually you feel as if you're well enough to walk around. Maybe you can get a free outfit from this. But that wouldn't be very legal or good. Standing up you decide to walk around.
Whilst walking you find a store that catches your eye. The name 'Unlimited Time' is the name. They have what appears to be vintage clothes with a more modern twist to it. So thinking it looked interesting you turn in and look around. The ticking grows a little louder. You scan through the clothes and the ticking begins to grow in volume. Everything is moving so does this mean you can more anything? Does this include people? The ticking continues to grow and it's now quite loud.
Looking around you try to find what may be causing it. The speakers? No. The ticking grows louder now and it's quite irritable.
You run out of the store.
Maybe it was the store. You run as fast as your feet can carry you. Yet now the ticking swells even more to the point it's getting unbearable. So you cover your ears as you run but that doesn't do anything.
Could it be that you're crazy? You could have gone so crazy over really anything that now you think you're the only thing living at that moment. You're the only thing that isn't frozen.
You continue to run but once you're ready to collapse on the floor due to this ticking it feels as if the world gave away underneath your feet. You fall down and all color begins to fade to nothing but black.
It feels like you're eyes are closed but in fact they are open. So you attempt to keep running with this clock still ticking, at a now bare able volume, and this empty horizon in front of you. It still feels like your falling even though you're running for dear life.
You can feel your breathing quicken and become short. Your hands are now sweaty. Your heart rate is speeding. Your chest tightens. You feel hopeless and helpless.Everything suddenly stops and you close your eyes. "Open your eyes my child." You do as told. "Good. You will now be prepared to have your life quality rated." You stare out into the same black abyss. "You have neither been deemed good nor bad so you must answer one question. What is time?"
You don't understand what the answer is or what this body-less voice is looking for. "Time tells you when to eat, sleep, or do a number of other different activities." The voice lets out a laughing type noise. "Time is a man made concept. Time is neither real nor fake. Time is a measure used as a way to attempt adding organization to the chaos of the moments we share with others around us. Time is a unit of measure that tries to unite everyone on the same page. Due to such a way of thinking you have been sentenced to your death. The length of time it lasts may feel much greater but I promise you it is much quicker.
All of a sudden you blink and it's as if you're back at the mall standing in front of your friends. This sight doesn't last long because soon you're in the ground and see the world fade around you. It's as if you can feel it fade away as well. It feels like it has taken maybe 30 minutes.
It didn't even take a minute.
