Jungkook stood in front of Jimin’s dorm room, pacing back and forth. His heart pounded with guilt and hesitation. He knew he needed to apologize, but the fear of seeing Jimin’s tear-streaked face held him back.
“I should knock on the door, shouldn’t I?” he muttered to himself, still unsure. He could vividly picture Jimin lying in bed, crying, and it tore at his heart.
Summoning all his courage, Jungkook finally knocked on the door. It creaked open, but instead of Jimin, it was Eunkwang, Jimin’s dormmate, who stood there.
"Oh Jungkook, what are you doing here?” Eunkwang asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Jimin, is he here?” Jungkook rubbed the back of his head, his confusion evident. He looked at Eunkwang, hoping for a reassuring answer.
“Didn’t he come with you to practice?” Eunkwang’s question caught Jungkook off guard.
Jungkook’s heart sank. If Jimin hadn’t returned to the dorm, where could he be? Panic started to set in. It had been three hours since their argument, and Jimin should have been home by now.
"He… He came back before me. So, he’s not here?” Jungkook’s voice wavered with worry.
“Nope,” Eunkwang answered briefly.
“Can I wait for him here?” Jungkook asked, his anxiety growing.
“But I want to get out, there’s a group assignment. Is it okay if you stay here alone?” Eunkwang replied, glancing at his watch.
“I’m okay. I will just stay in Jimin’s room,” Jungkook assured him.
“Come in,” Eunkwang said, opening the door wider to let Jungkook in. “Just make yourself comfortable.”
Jungkook nodded, stepping inside and heading straight to Jimin’s room. As Eunkwang left for his group assignment, Jungkook sat on Jimin’s bed, his mind racing with thoughts of where Jimin could be and how he could make things right.
Jungkook sat on the edge of the bed, holding a framed photo of Jimin. He carefully wiped the glass with his thumb, smoothing out the smudges with a tender touch. The picture captured Jimin’s smile in a moment of pure joy, a sight Jungkook found both comforting and heart-wrenching.
"He's so pretty..."
He picked up his phone and tried calling Jimin again. The call went straight to voicemail. Jungkook sighed, his concern growing. “Jiminie honey, please answer your phone,” he mumbled, his voice a mix of frustration and worry. He placed the phone down and stared at the picture once more, hoping for a sign that everything was okay.
The room felt unusually quiet without Jimin’s laughter and the warmth of his presence. Jungkook's fingers lingered on the frame as he whispered to the empty room, “Where are you?”
After about half an hour of anxious waiting, Jungkook's ears perked up at the sound of the front door creaking open. He rushed to the living room, his heart pounding with both relief and anxiety. His eyes searched the doorway, and there, to his immense relief, was Jimin.
“Jiminie...” Jungkook’s voice was a mix of desperation and joy. But instead of the warm embrace he had hoped for, Jimin’s expression was distant, and he avoided Jungkook's gaze. The silence between them was heavy.
“Honeybunch...” Jungkook tried again, his voice soft and pleading. But Jimin remained silent, his eyes fixed straight ahead as he walked past Jungkook. Jungkook followed him, a lost puppy in search of comfort.
