Phased On The Fly

Loren's POV:

After leaving the pack in the woods I followed Bella's scent back to her house. I heard movement going up the stairs so I jumped through her window, hiding next to the door. That's when Bella walked through the door and slammed it closed, obviously stressed as she laid down on her bed. But that's when she saw me and instantly shot up, but before she could scream I quickly ran over to her, putting my hand over her mouth.

"Hey, sh, sh, sh. I'm not gonna hurt you." I assured. "Now, if I remove my hand you promise not to scream?"

Bella nodded and I slowly removed my hand and let out a sigh.

"Who the hell are you?" Bella frowned.

"My name's Loren. I'm from the Denali Clan."

"Wait you're one of the Cul- - you're one of their cousins?" Bella asked shocked as I nodded. "What are you doing here?"

"Laurent claimed to be mates with my sister, but truthfully he was just using her to get close to the Cullens. It didn't work and I over heard a conversation with him and Victoria. That's when I started keeping a close eye on him. When he told my sister he was leaving I followed him and that's when he lead me to you in the field. I came here to protect you."

"Why?" Bella asked confused.

"Because my stupid cousin left you here defenseless. And no matter his reason for leaving it was shit. But no matter what Bella, you are family, and I always protect family."

"Thank you." Bella nodded. "So how long are you staying?"

"As long as you need me. And from what I can see right now,  Victoria isn't far behind from Laurent. Word of his death probably reached her already. Do you mind me staying here?"

"Stay as long as you want." Bella nodded. "Thank you again. For everything."

"What else is family for." I smiled. "Now get some sleep, you've been through enough and need to rest."

"Okay." Bella chuckled, getting into bed as I looked out the window, on the look out for the red-headed bitch.

The Next Morning

I just got back to Bella's after coming from the Cullen house to quickly get changed. After explaining to her Dad I was a friend from school he let me in and I went up to Bella's room, to see her rushing around her room like she was on a mission.

"Um, is everything okay?" I asked as she got her shoes on.

"I have to go see Jake." Bella said.

"Bella, I don't think that's such a good idea." I frowned. No matter how much I wanted to go see Jared, I barley knew him and I didn't want it to be awkward. Not to mention I agreed to help the pack keep their secret.

"No matter what you say or do isn't gonna change my mind. I'm going." Bella said brushing past me.

"Wait." I sighed going with her.

Knowing I can't really betray her trust, I can at least go with her to keep her safe.

When we got to Jacob's house Bella stormed out of the truck and I followed behind her. She knocked on the door and a man in a wheelchair opened the door.

"Bella?" He asked and looked at me confused.

"I need to see him." She stated.

"He's not in." The man lied as I heard his heart skip a beat.

"I'm sorry Billy, I really need to see him." Bella said walking past him into the house.

"Bella!" Billy and I called after her. Now that was just rude.

"I'm sorry for her, she woke up like this when I came to her house this morning." I apologized to Jacob's dad.

"I understand." Billy sighed. "But it's not safe. Are you Loren?"

"You heard of me?" I asked confused.

"Jared talked a lot about you to the council when they told me the arrangements of your agreement." Billy nodded.

"And you don't mind me being a vampire?" I asked.

"You're apart of the pack now. You're family." Billy smiled making me smile back. That was before Bella stormed back through and went outside.

"Here we go." I sighed as I caught Jared and the packs scents walking up. I quickly followed Bella outside as she stormed the backyard towards them.

"What did you do?!" Bella walked up to Sam, pushing him in his chest. "What did you do?!"

"Hey!" The younger looking boy out of Paul and Jared growled.

"Watch it!" Paul also growled.

"Easy!" Sam said to the boys.

"What did you do to him?!" Bella demanded. "He didn't want this!"

"Bella. Just calm down." I said from behind her.

"What did we do? What did he do? What did he tell you?" Paul demanded.

"Calm down. Both of you calm down." Sam stated.

"Nothing! He tells me nothing because he's scared of you." Bella said causing Jared, the young one, and Paul to laugh, but before I could stop her, Bella slapped Paul across the face. Paul looked at Bella pissed as he started to shake.

"Too late now." Jared commented.

"Not helping with the commentary!" I glared at Jared which made him frown and look disappointed. I sighed but changed my focus on Bella's safety. I can apologize to Jared after all this is resolved. "Bella get back." I said as I pulled her towards me.

"Paul, calm down now." Sam commanded but Paul ended up phasing and landed right where Bella stood. She'd be dead if I didn't move her.

Bella realizing what just happened escapes from my hold and runs towards the house. Paul growled and snarled as he walked towards us. I stood where I was as Bella yelled at me to come on. Paul ran at me, not expecting his weight he was able to pin me down as he tried to bite at my throat but I held him back by his shoulders.

"No!" Jared and Sam yelled at Paul as Jacob yelled out Bella's name. Both Jacob and Jared started running towards us when they phased on the fly. Jared tackled Paul off me and rolled in the yard until they both got back on their feet and started going at it until they rolled into the tree-line.

"Hey, take Bella and Loren back to Emily's place." Sam told the boys.

"Guess the wolf's outta the bag." The younger one mumbled before coming over to Bella and I as Jacob walked back towards the house, I'm guessing to get clothes since he shredded his.

"You guys okay?" The younger one asked extending his hand to help us up.

"Yeah." I nodded grabbing his hand as he helped me up. "Thanks."

"No problem." He nodded.

"Embry. What the hell just happened?" Bella asked, and finally gave me his name.

"Exactly what you just saw." Embry said as Jacob came out of the house. "Now come on."

I sighed before heading back to Bella's truck. I sat in the passenger seat as Bella sat between me and Jacob who drove, and Embry rode in the bed of Bella's truck.
