I opened my eyes.
I was uncertain as to where I was at first, due to my brain still needing to wake up fully. I was laying on the grass, with an evergreen tree not far to my left. I sat up to get a better look around, and recognized the place as Ilekkani Park, in my hometown. I had been here many times. Supposedly it had some connection to the mythical Celebi, but most people just used it as a place to be outside and do outside-y things.
Like sleeping on the grass.
"Jeez, I thought you'd never wake up," a voice to my back said. I turned slowly toward the voice, still sitting down, not entirely sure who it would be...
It was just Chilan. The gray-furred Pokémon shook her pelt a little bit. She was just sitting there, her fur a bit messy, but otherwise she was alright.
Chilan and I had met not too long ago - in fact, just on my return to Xiana. The Pixeleon was badly injured, and I helped nurse it back to health. She still had the scars from whatever happened to her - namely, two big ones on her face - but didn't even want me to touch them. She was able to talk, although she assured me (and everyone else who caught her doing it) that it was perfectly normal for a Legendary Pokémon to be able to communicate with humans. (Even if being a Legendary Pokémon itself was something I wouldn't have believed, had I not been studying with someone who befriended a blue wolf thing carrying a sword that somehow was a Legendary Pokémon.)
"Y-yeah, thanks..." I said to Chilan. My voice sounded a little off, but it could just be dehydration or something, so I didn't take too much stock in it.
Chilan shuffled her paws a bit. "Anyways, um, you feel alright?" She was looking down at the ground.
"Of course, I just took a nap, didn't I?" It's not like I ran the Poni Gauntlet or anything...
"Um, if a whole two days counts as a nap" was Chilan's reply. This made me immediately snap to alertness.
"Two days?! Have I been laying here for two days in a row?!" I stood up in complete shock.
Chilan looked up at me and stood up. "Not exactly...We were walking through this park, you were knocked unconscious, I wasn't. We were taken somewhere, and now we're here."
"Two days la...did you just..." In struggling to process this packet of information, I couldn't manage much more than that. None of that made sense to me.
"Oh, and you might wanna look in the mirror. If what I just said was a surprise to you, then you'll probably faint again when you do that."
I sighed at Chilan's lack of concern about that sentence. "Why'd you have to say that? Now I need to get to a mirror..."
"Well, the bathroom's not that far away...and a pond would probably work too," Chilan offered.
"Ilekkani doesn't have a pond, Chilan." I rubbed my hand against my head. I did wish it had one though. Maybe it did in the past...I hadn't heard about such a thing, but it was the oldest park in the general area.
"Then you know where to go. Lead the way."
And with that, I walked to the bathroom.
Well, "walked" as in "staggered because my head and back were both burning with pain" and "bathroom" as in "a small structure whose only purpose is so that visits to the park aren't cut short because of embarrassment."
Regardless, within a solid ten or fifteen minutes (I wasn't actually keeping track), I arrived. I walked into the women's restroom...
And screeched very loudly.
