Chapter Three
Thanks
"Ugh here we go." I said to myself, fixing my tie in my floor length mirror that hung from my closet door. I sighed and looked down at my plain black penny loafers , I shake my head and step out of them.
"You can even add your own style." My aunt Jennifer's voice rung in my head.
I smirked and place my penny loafers back inside the box and stepped into my black Doc Martens. "Now, that's more like it." I say to myself, taking another look in the mirror. I fix my black skirt and pull my knee highs up a little more.
"Melanie hurry up, I don't want you to be late on your first day!" Jenn shouts outside my door.
"I'm coming!" I shout back. I sigh and grab my backpack, phone and purse before leaving my closet. I turn off all the lights in my room and close the door behind me.
I make my way down the stairs and head to the living room. "Morning Grandma." I say, leaning down and kissing her cheek.
"Morning baby, you ready for school?" She asks.
I sigh, "Grams, I haven't even left for school yet and I already can't wait to get back home." I say, she chuckles.
Jenn walks into the living room and once she takes in my appearance, she frowns. "Why aren't you wearing your penny loafers?" She asks, fixing her watch.
I shrug, "They're not exactly my style." I say.
"Melanie, you can't just wear whatever you want, this is a uniform school." She says.
"Yeah I know that but, you're the one who told me I could add my own style so, this is it." I say, pointing to my shoes.
She sighs and holds the bridge of her nose, "Okay Melanie." She says.
I roll my eyes as she turns around, "Always bitching about something." I think to myself. I turn to grandma and hug her, "Alright grams, I better get going before I'm late for school."
"Alright baby, you be careful na, and try not to get into any trouble on your first day." She says.
I smirk and grab my keys off the coffee table, "No promises." I wink before exiting the living room. I see Jenn going through her purse by the front door, "Alright aunt Jenn, I'm heading out now, have a good day at work." I say, fixing my backpack on my shoulder.
"You have a good day at school as well, and don't get into any trouble." She says sternly, pointing a finger at me.
Why does everyone keep saying that? I wasn't that bad at my last school... was I? I shake my head and open the door, and walk out, closing it behind me. I unlock my car and get inside, throwing my backpack and purse into the backseat. I start the car and back out of the driveway, heading down the road, starting on my way to the school.

I pull into an empty parking spot in the crowded parking lot, there are students everywhere. I take a deep breath and let it out slowly, "Here goes nothing." I say to myself. I sigh and reach into the backseat and grab my things. I place my hand on the door handle and prepare to get out, when I feel a muffled vibration coming from my jacket pocket. I frown and let go of the door handle. I pull my phone out of my pocket and check the caller ID, it's Keira. I slide the bar over and place the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I say into the phone.
"You're too good to call anyone back I see." She says, getting right to the point.
