Memory begin

"Emilio, it would do you some good to get used to a routine. This way, if anything is bothering you, when you zone out, it won't interfere with the hospital staff." The doctor suggested.

Emilio, now three, just nodded her head to the best of her abilities. She has been zoning out ever since she found out about being abandoned.

"Also, a new nurse will be taking care of you." There was that too. The nurse who got her on the Naruto franchise had suddenly disappeared.

Rumor is she quit.

Memory end

When I woke up this morning, it was to hear Kakashi had a mission. Apparently, he and his two teammates are with their sensei on a very important request.

This is when I remembered that dad is their sensei so it's just mom and I.

I do my morning routine and head down the hall and into the kitchen area following the scent of bacon and eggs. I peaked over the corner to see the plate of bacon sitting on the counter just in arms reach.

Biting my lip, I slowly reach out to sneak a piece. I flinched ever so slightly when i felt a sting on my hand.

"Ow!" I cried out grabbing my hand rubbing the sore spot.

"Nah, ah, ahhh, not on my watch." My mom scolded and I gave her a sheepish smile rubbing the back of my neck.

I then gave her my big goofy smile which got her to stifle a laugh. "Yes ma'am.." I said then sat down at the counter.

As I sat there swinging my legs back and forth I began humming a toon. The one called Hide and Seek by Lizz Robinett. The nightcore version, it was around that time of year and I was bored.

My mom looked to me curiously as I sang,

"Ding dong, I know you can hear me
Open up the door, I only wanna play a little
Ding dong, you can't keep me waiting
It's already too late-"

"What are you singing? It sounds like something out of a horror story, dattebayne."

I began blushing deeply. "You could say it does." I turned my head away in a pout.

My mother put my plate of eggs and bacon as she gave a laugh before squeezing my cheek. "Ow," I complained.

"You're too cute for this world, ttebayne." She seemed in pain.

"Mom" I called out to her which caused her to snap out of it looking to me and our eyes locked.

There was sadness and worry in there. Like there are tensions with the other nations.... don't tell me.

"Reika, there will be a time when you will have to protect this village." She began, I was subconsciously eating my bacon while I listened intently to mom's words.

"War." I whispered, she looked to me tears brimming.

"Not yet," she admitted. I numbly nodded my head and got up from my seat throwing myself at my mother embracing her.

She held me close choking on a sob. I gently pet her hair whispering, "Shhh, it's okay. It's okay, mom. Shhh, it's okay to cry and worry, I'm here. Shhh, it's okay." I let tears fall myself as I spoke.

Not long after I went to school and entered class on auto pilot. As I entered, sensei had looked to me as I continued taking notes. I looked up and locked eyes with him, he was analyzing me, I should know. His eyes suddenly went wide and filled with understanding and realization.
