Zoey was an average looking teenager, not too popular but no one ever ignored her presence. She was smart always topped her class, loves to party at the same times really enjoyes a good debate sessions. Her friends adored her. The only enemy in her life was computers. No matter how smart she was, she still couldn't work her way through it. And the irony her dad was one of the best programmer owning a multi-million dollar company. Her mom managing one of the finest boutique in the entire New York.
Since she was the only prodigy of beauty and the brains. She had sharp features but she decided to dress in a plain shirt and a pant. But everything changed once she went to university. Her parents wanted her to pursue an engineering degree after which could take up managerial courses to get the perfect qualification to be the next CEO. In her break she decided to help her mom with her new collection and ended up loving the glamour world. She absolutely loved the way the khol would highlight her eyes and the lipstick that made sure her plump lips would stand out. And well she eventually feel in love with her unruly curls.
The first few weeks in the University were nothing short of a fairytale. She had made amazing friends, and her boyfriend was worth drooling over. Her mom's clothes fitting slug on her curves. Sure she did make heads turn where ever she went.
And then came the hurricane, she failed in a subject for the first time on her life. Well when someone never ever failed at anything least of all academics which was her strength, well things went downhill ever since.
First, it all started with the fact that one of her friend Ashley copies her style discreetly and ends up getting all the attention. Which made Zoey jealous. An emotion she was never used to having. Next came the fact that she wasn't selected into the play she loved. While Ashley made it into the music team.
Jealousy made her blind, hatred took over. Cold was ensured and well everyday became hell. One day she lost it and fought openly causing her to lose out on all her friends and the fact that Tanya, Izna and Rachael took Ashley's side was heart wrenching .
She wasn't able to perform well in academics too. Her parents sensing something wrong took her to rehab.
Where she was treated for having clinical depression. As the days went by, her depression got worse fuled by her jealousy. She would constantly try to prove she was better. In that process Max grew tired of her and broke up. It was like salt being rubbed into the wound. She surprising managed to make friends in an apprentice to prove her worth and the next big thing, she topped the semester. Yet the hollow feeling remained.
Tina and Della was constantly by her side, understood her and helped her get better. In the mean while news broke out that Max was getting enagaged. This gave her sleepless nights, which school her a lot. Ultimately checking into rehab again and given a larger quantity of dosage.
After she was back from rehab, things slightly seem to get better. She took to dances classes found the prefect guy in Zain and things were becoming better again. She was so overjoyed and overconfident.
When she learnt that crush was just considered her to be a good friend, all the dreams shattered all over again. And she went extremely high. She fought with everyone including Tina and Della. She wouldn't eat, couldn't fall asleep. Basically she was a mess.
Again was checked into rehab against her will. She became better afyer few days and when she went back to her old life, she realised that everyone she knew would avoid her. She held her head strong. But eventually succumbed to depression again and then came the daunting thoughts of suicide. She hates life. She wanted to die. She already felt dead inside.
She refused to go out of the room. She dreaded doctor vists. Her face lost any sign of life. She was forced to read motivation books. There was only one person who truly believed in her and that was her English professor.
He visited her. Encouraged her to attend his classes without having to do any assignments. Just like a guest. And if she was willing would do him a favour a write a report on his teaching. Of course, she turned him down. Once. Twice. Then just so was so annoyed she told herself one class. Just one.
When she went to university after a two month break, people smiled at her. Acknowledged her. They didn't ignore her anymore. Once she finished with his class, she sat down on the very bench, the three of them always would sit. She overcame a new emotion. Hope, it was quite less still its potential was more. She decided to come back to the class again tomorrow.
She got ready, went down to eat breakfast and was stuck with an insane panic attack. She had to calm down, to get her bearings back. After that incident she refused to step out again. The shallow feeling resurfaced. She almost became a zombie. She would wake up, eat, sleep and eat again. Watching her daughter in such a state was agonizing for Andrea.
She finally stepped in and gave Zoey an ultimatum. Either join dance classes or go to rehab. She hated both, dances classes a little less than rehab. And it was settled. Dance classes would be starting from tomorrow. She dreaded it. Andrea dropped her to her class. Zoey wasn't able to dance at all. This was her main issue at the moment.Considering the fact that Zain would be there. All her movements were not smooth as they were once before. This was an other reason to go back to the gloomy mood.
Andrea refused to reason with what ever Zoey had to say and ensured that she kept continuing her classes. After a week came a tiny improvement and little flexibility and fluent movements. By the end of third week she gained a little confidence. And spoke to Zain too. Slowly she started crawling out into life like a snail. It took about 2 entire months for her to be able to step out of her house without anxiety.
She learnt that she could lean on people. That flowers were colorful once again. With this new found confidence, she asked Tina and Della to forgive her and though initially the girls kept their distance, they eventually became as thick as they were earlier. She managed to attend her final semester. The one she skipped she would take it up in the summer break.
The anxiety has reduced a lot. She now lives a colourful live.
