We push darkness away...
With our fires and lamps and brightly lit cities...But even there, shadows lurk.
In the dark corners, behind the cold glass of darkened mirrors.
As old as our world is this one- the world of night. The place of blood magic, swift wings, and sharp teeth bared in a knowing smile.
Push it away though we may in our cities...
...It's still there.

"I-I'm telling you, something not right about this school." Hissed Sydney to her friends as they scavenged through the schools empty corridors.
"I -I get the heebie-jeebies whenever I stay late.""Hey!" Replied Rebeca with a joking tone in her voice "Just because you're a scaredy-cat doesn't mean the school is haunted!"
"Ya, no more horror flicks for you, man." Tori chuckled nervously and put her hoodie over her head to cover her eyes and face, giving her surroundings an ominous vibe "Just let us know when you start seeing dead people, 'kay?"
"Oh! Very funny!" Replied the ever-so 'joyous' Sydney and slapped her friend playfully in the back of the head.

The trio wandered the building, stopping in some vacant classrooms- just out of curiosity, and ended up on the first floors 'dungeon'. The dungeon is where most of the recreational classes and back-up courses are held for those students who need extra credit or extra help.
As the 3 girls meandered around in the dimly lite school, they heard a door creak open with a faint noise. Out of a mix of curiosity and impulse, all of them swerved their heads in the direction the noise had come from. It was the old girls restroom the teachers pronounced off limits a couple semesters ago, when they were in 8th grade. No one dared enter since.
Rebeca, Sydney, and Tori stared at each other in confusion.
"Huh? This one's been closed since last year. And tell me it doesn't give you the creeps!" Questioned Rebecca harshly."Just wind in the pipes. Or... Or Something" Sydney assured her friend and clasped her shaking shoulder.
Sydney and Rebecca proceeded to walk in the other direction to exit, but quickly turned around in embarrassment when they realized Tori had gone inside to investigate. They stepped inside and grabbed her arm, forcefully.
"Well, it's pretty dark, but other then that..."
"Argh! We can't be in here!" they pleaded
"Hey, the light switch doesn't work...Wow, that mirror's huge!"
Rebecca, foregoing inside, gasped in amazement and skipped towards it in dismay.
"Honestly, why do you care? Let's get out'a here."Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Sydney spotted something with a large, black body and (scary) gleaming white eyes, looming in the doorway. Sydney snapped her head back and released a blood curdling scream. Sydney dashed behind her friends, and with a meek point of a finger beckoned them to look in the direction she had seen the thing.
As they did, they saw a long, human-like, painted nail turn the lights on with a flick of the wrist.
"What are you girls doing here? All club activities are finished. You should be home and in bed."
The girls, relieved (but still afraid) spoke hesitantly, perspire collecting on their hands. They aren't going to get off the hook easily, they would rather the shadow be an actual monster then her. "H-hello, Mrs. Hatcher!"
