i watch the water stream down the rocks. "Danny we sholdnt have done that." i say. Danny shrugs. "Paul likes you Maddie, he really does but..im in love with you. and i cant help that." Danny says. i sigh. "Your making things really complicated Danny." i say. he laughs. "come on, you tired?" danny asks. "no. not at all. i really like it here." i say. "ok, we'll stay." he says. he wraps his fingers in mine. "no." i say pulling away. "im not a cheater." i say. "Maddie, im sorry." Danny says. "im gonna tell Paul. if he ends us..i...i wont know what to do." i say. "he wont." Danny says.
"its over." Paul says tears in his eyes. "Paul, please i...im so sorry!" i say. "stop, save it!" he says. "Paul it was my fault!" Danny says. "you to danny just..leave me alone!" Paul cries storming out of the house. so maybe i shouldnt have said anything. i start to cry. "im really sorry." Danny says. "dont be. its my fault." i say. i rub my temples. "i just..i want to go home." i cry. "i know..im sorry." Danny says comforting me with a hug. "i want my mom!" i cry into his chest. "shhhh its ok." he says calmly. "Paul hates me!" i cry. "im not gonna leave babe, calm down." Danny says. i start to calm myself. i wanted Paul to walk back through the door and say everything was ok. but i felt safe here with Danny.
