if you asked Derek how all of this had happened, how he was standing in an really - and I mean really - ugly christmas sweater with a reindeer and blinking lights on it, in the doorway of this huge decorated hall, there would be only one answer. Stiles. Stiles Stilinski, his boss who is not only 25 years old but also the most childish and clumsy person in this whole universe. Stiles, who will be his death with all his weird coffee orders, most spectacular ideas on how everyone should be equal in his company regardless on how their real job was and of course with his stubborn mind that you have to wear a christmas sweater to their christmas office party.
when Derek first send his application to 'Stilinski Enterprise' here in Boston , he thought he would make a great personal assistant. Phenomenal even. He graduated from High School, studied Marketing at Boston University and wanted to do something to get real experience before moving to New York to start working at Broadway. Growing up with 2 sisters his love for music, theater and the art of performance grew over the time, well hidden to the outside but proudly lived during family meetings. So he thought helping people love all this glitter and glamour even more would be something he could do. So this assistant job really wasn't just for the experience and to look good on his resume. His job interview, on a really cloudy and autumny september monday, was held by the most gorgeous woman Derek ever laid eyes on. She was wearing a maroon red sweater with a pencil skirt and high heels so high he thought nobody could walk on that. Her strawberry-blond hair was in a high ponytail and her green eyes made Derek feel small and inexperienced, not like the 29 year old man he actually was. Everything of this woman screamed of power and confidence but her lips would form into a warm smile when Derek stumpeld over his words and she even asked him if a cat got his tongue when he couldn't even tell her something about his family. Lydia Martin, that's how she introduced herself, was a woman like no other. Despite being a silent and very introverted person, he rambled on about helping his sister with their theater performance for their parents, about how he even walked around the neighbourhood and tried to lure people to watch her perform, how he tried everything to make his girls happy. Taking a deep breath Derek found himself a bit exhausted and twitchy under her intense stare but he slightly relaxed when she nodded and closed his file. "Mr. Hale, you have a really nice resume and after trying to tell me how much you would do to make someone happy, I am certain you're the right person for this Job. A Job to make someone happy, be a good assistant and make someones life a bit easier.' Her eyes ranked Derek's frame for a second and the man got nervous again. He wore his suit which he usually only wore to special occasion like his Nana's birthday or when he came home for christmas and he made sure that his dark hair was in place, his beard neatly trimmed. She stood up, expanded her hand with clear painted nails and shook his. Derek wasn't surprised about how soft her palm was or how much confidence even her handshake radiated, nor that she went her way around the table and nodded into the direction of the floor. "Come on, I'll give you a tour. I thought this whole interview thing would take much more time, but so I can give you a heads up about the premises and about where you gonna work. We expect you to begin on Wednesday so you have good 3 days to get settled in and get comfortable around here. I'll email you a few of your daily tasks and our lunch schedule, although Mr. Stilinski has a business meeting during lunch hour on friday. " While she had talked, her heels had clicked on the floor while she now pointed towards two different doors. "To your right you'll find security and on your left IT. We tried to expand to the level above us, but let me tell you coffee orders got messed up so bad, we moved back after like a month. Vernon Boyd is our head of security, everyone just calls him Boyd and don't get fooled by his appearance. He is a Softie and I'm pretty sure you will get along just fine. He will check everyone who will enter this floor and he really knows how to handle everyone. Our IT Man is called Isaac, he graduated early from MIT and he's a real genius.. but also more puppy than boy." Lydia shrugged and smiled in the exact same time as a young man with curly sandy hair left the room and almost tripped over his own feet. He didn't look at Derek but he blushed when he laid eyes on Lydia, which Derek could understand so well. The red haired woman turned on her heels again and led him to the end of the floor. There were 6 doors left, 3 of them were open as well as the head office. "So we also have another Marketing Specialist, his name is Jackson Wittmore who is like an asshole but very good at his job. He'll start with ignoring you but let me assure you, he will warm up to you. " Her smile got even warmer when she looked through the open door where a man with sleek blonde hair and hard green eyes leaned against his desk, phone in his hand. His face broke into a little smile when he spotted Lydia, but is was gone after two seconds. The last door before the head office had a little name tag on the wall which read "Erica Reyes" and Lydia just pointed to a blonde woman on the phone. "Erica is as fierce as myself but the most generous woman who you'll ever meet. But call her secretary one time and she will have you gutted. The last doors are the office of Scott McCall who's on a meeting right now, our conference room, the break room, the bathroom and of course your office. " She stopped right in front of a milk glass door which had another door that would definitely led to the head office. Lydia opened the door and Derek peaked inside. It wasn't quite big but it had a huge window with a nice view and even got a small couch along with a desk, chairs and some plants. And then before Derek could get even a bit ready, the woman knocked on the door to the head office. S. Stilinski was written next to it and when the door opened it revealed a young man behind a desk and in front of a window so huge you could see most of the city. Derek tried to calm himself, the man didn't even looked like he graduated and he wasn't wearing a suit. Track pants and a nice shirt, but no jacket and his brown hair was a mess, like he was running his fingers through it way too much. Lydia stepped aside and Derek took another step forward, straightening the hems of his shirt and put on his nicest smile. The other man met him halfway and he didn't extended his hand, he more looked like he was going to hug Derek and he certainly wasn't against that. His boss wasn't all hard lines and business, he seemed kind and you know normal. He had a friendly face with moles dotted all over him, huge honey coloured eyes and soft plum lips which broke into a huge grin. "You must be Derek, I'm sorry that I couldn't do your interview myself, but you know I had to do stuff like work and get bored. But Lydia is the most capable woman of doing everything and I'm sure that you're hired since your standing in my office. She will also e-mail all the boring stuff and I will personally inform you about all the important stuff like how I like my coffee, which business associates are assholes and where the best deli is.. even though that would be more like your job. Anyway I have to get back to this Haigh guy who doesn't seem to understand how boring vacuum cleaners are. Oh by the way, my name is Stiles Stilinski and we don't have to do all this Sir thing, just call me Stiles. " The young man rolled his eyes, leaned forward and kissed Lydia on the cheek as well as he patted Derek's shoulder before returning to his desk. Derek was then pulled back into the hallway while more blinking than realising what just happened there. This man was a kid. A kid which made more money in a month then Derek's sister in half a year and who now was his boss, who told Derek to call him by his first name. He turned towards Lydia who had a wicked grin on her lips and said "You must be special Derek, only me and Scott were allowed to call him Stiles in the first months of our employment and we went to High School together." She even winked and Derek started to question everything in his life.
