A bad day

For some reason I don't remember the rest of the night. I don't even remember falling asleep. I just remember waking up alone in that bed.
"What are you even talking about?!" A yelling Haden woke me up.
"You can not attend classes anymore this semester." An unfamiliar voice scolded him. It was an older mans voice, one that tickled my memory, but I couldn't remember.
"For what?! Protecting innocent girls from your perverted son?!" Haden yelled, clearly outraged. "He groped my girlfriend! And I was supposed to do nothing about that?!"
I heard the man sigh. "I'm sorry, but you should have ignore it like the rest of the people that day..."
I heard something smash before Haden began yelling again, so much emotion in his voice that my heart hurt from anther room. "The woman I love was nearly raped! By Your son! I don't care if you own this school or not, I will end you for protecting this monster!"
"If you had a son you would understand..." That's it then... The was the owner of the school- I had met him one other time.
Haden let out a long breath, "I believe in loving your child. But your child deserves to rot in hell." He growled. "Now leave my apartment- now."
I heard foot steps, then I heard Haden slam the door. I was quick to jump out of bed and open the door to the room to see Haden slumped down on the floor, his face in his hands.
"Haden..." I said softly.
His head jerked up to look at me, "I'm sorry if I woke you." He said softly, his eyes gentle as he looked me over. "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine..." I lied. He didn't need to worry about me- not when he had so much on his plate. "What happened?"
His eyes flickered o the floor, a scowl taking over his features. "I've been kicked out of school for the rest of the semester. Meaning I'll be half a year behind." He ran a hand through his hair, "meaning I won't be able to graduate on time. All because I dealt with a situation that was apparently none of my business."
"I did this..." I felt guilty. If I hadn't had dressed like that... If I hadn't had went out to the park- if I would have eaten or prolonged getting dressed...
"No." His voice was firm as he looked up at me. "No, you didn't do this. You're my girlfriend- you being involved made it my business. They didn't have the right to touch you... No one has that right, and I'll never let anyone have it." He slowly stood up, "I'm sorry, but you're mine for now." He took my hands in his- "and as long as you're mine- everything you do is my business." He brushed my hair back, his hand lingering on my cheek. "I love you, Hadlie."
I felt my heart flutter a ridiculous amount. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing that..."
He smiled gently, then his face fell, "what am I going to do? Boss is going to be furious..."
"No he won't. He's going to care that you saved me and Beth. School will mean nothing; not compared to us." I tried to smile at him, but I still felt responsible.
He sighed and turned away from me. "You should go check on Beth.... I'll find you later, okay?" He gave me a sad smile before he went to hide in the kitchen.
I made my way across campus to her dorm, knocking softly. The door opened, Tanner peeking his head out.
"Oh." I said a bit shocked. "Tanner- what are you- should I- Uhm..." I looked around awkwardly, as did he.
"Is that Hadlie? Let her in, silly." I heard Beth say happily.
Tanner opened the door, revealing his naked upper torso. "Oh." I muttered again as I quickly walked past him. I found Beth on the couch eating a sandwich. "Hey." I said softly.
She gave me a knowing look and patted the cushion next to her. I sat down, leaning against her heavily. "How are you doing?" I asked, my voice gentle.
"Actually. Really good. I mean, after all of that- Tanner and I got to talking..." I looked up to see her watching him with fondness. "He got kicked out of school... I heard the twins did too..." She said quietly to me.
"The school owner- it was one of his sons." I told her quietly so Tanner didn't hear. He was in the Kitchen, making food and getting drinks.
She shook her head, "how's Haden...?"
I sighed, "he doesn't know what to do without school... I mean that's his life. And he's so distraught after what happened..." I sighed. "So-" I said quickly, wanting to take my mind away from Haden. "Are you and Tanner-"
"Kind of." She said quickly, a silly grin spreading on her face. She stuck her tongue out and giggled, "i really like him. And I mean, Damn."
We laughed together, and it just felt nice to be around her. She held my hand as we talked, and talked. Soon Tanner came to join us and I tried to act as if everything was normal; well this was the new normal.
They soon walked me back across campus, to where Haden and Kris were at a small cafe, because honestly I didn't want to go alone.
I gave them a hug and went in to find Kris sitting with a girl.
"Oh Haden." She giggled wildly. "You're so crazy."
"Excuse me?" I said with a chuckle, my hands in my pockets as I stood next to the table.
Kris jerked away from me, "Hadlie!" He exclaimed loudly. "Hey, Uhm..." He smiled nervously. "What's up?"
"Just... Looking for your brother?" I asked, raising my eye brows at him.
The girl scoffed, "he's such a jerk." She rolled her eyes and fluffed her pretty blonde hair. "Don't even bother with Kris, like, seriously. He's a total player, and like, not even worth it."
I looked at her for a few seconds. "Did you date him." A head nod. "And I take it you can't tell the twin apart?" I said worth a light chuckle. She gave me a look before lookin at Kris.
"I think he's in the back." Kris growled. "He's been waiting for you."
I laughed a bit before waving to them and finding Haden in a back booth. His head was leaning back, touching the outer frame of the booth. His hands were folded together on the table as he stretched his long legs out.
I sat across from him, "hey." I said softly, "what's with your brother?"
He peeked at me and smiled. "What about him?"
"He's saying he's you..." I glanced over my shoulder at Kris who was laughing.
"Are you freaking kidding me?" He straightened up and looked over at his brother, "let's go straighten this out."
He grabbed my hand and pulled me along with him. "Okay." I muttered behind him.
"Kris." Haden said, leaning down on the table next to his brother. "Whatcha doin?"
"I'm out to dinner with a girl." He said with a nervous laugh, "and I'm Haden, don't call me your name."
"Come on." Haden growled. "You're going to give me a bad reputation."
"But mines already horrible!"
"Not a good enough reason to ruin mine!" They whispered to each other harshly.
"Hey." The girl said. "Aren't you the girl that nearly got raped yesterday, by the principles son?" The pretty little blonde asked. "I thought you looked familiar."
Kris and Haden both looked at me, Haden quickly wrapped his arm around me. The girl noticed, and quickly got irritated.
"Kris, come on. Not in front of me." She scoffed. "You would be with the easy girl. I bet she wanted him to rape her." The girl spat at him. When she looked back at me, I could tell she was hurt by seeing her ex with another girl, but the look on my face must have set her off. "Oh god, I'm sorry."
I felt tears welling in my eyes as I slowly leaned against Haden. How could anyone even say that... I balled my hands up and placed them over my mouth in attempts to keep my hysteria contained.
"How dare you even think something so vial!" Haden shouted. He glared down at his brother, "I blame you for this."
"I didn't mean for this to happen!" Kris shot back, leaning in front of me.
The girl looked between the twins and then back at me. "He's not Kris is he..." Her voice was quiet. "And I just... I'm so sorry."
I shook my head and pushed away from Haden, making my way through the crowd to outside. I quickly hid behind a tree, trying to contain my sobs.
"Hey." Haden said softly from next to me.
I leaned heavily against him and sobbed into his chest. "How does everyone know?!" I shouted, wiping my face. "How dare she even..." I felt rage boil up in me but it was subsided with sadness and grief of my own lack of self respect.
He hushed me softly, "we all know the truth, so it doesn't matter what they say."
We stood there for a A while before I could actually see through my eyes; the tears finally subsiding. "Apparently Tanner and Beth are a thing now." I sniffled.
"What?" Haden asked, looking down at me, "you Godda be kidding me. He couldn't have you so he moved to your friend?"
I shrugged, "they're cute together."
"Or he's just doing it to get closer to you." He mused to himself, his fists clenching as he let me go. "Today's not a very good day."
"So is it true that everyone who fought off the guys yesterday is suspended...?" He nodded to my question. "What are you-"
"I don't know yet." He breathed. "But let's go see Boss.... Maybe he can shed some useful light on the subjects..."
