Masayuki Hori mentally swears that if he ever gets through this night in one piece, he better be proclaimed a saint, because this is just too much for a normal human to bear. And it's not just because of the fact that this is his darling baby sister's arranged marriage and he has yet to punch the blushing groom.

...why did this have to happen, again?

The thing is, Mikoto Mikoshiba's best man was supposed to be his elder sister, Yu, herself. (There was a real and constant fear that Mayu would eventually do something like fall asleep in the middle of the service, forget to bring the wedding rings, or simply not show up altogether.) But then she had made an offhand quip about wanting Masayuki to be the maid of honor, in return, and while Masayuki had merely gleefully chucked her off to next Tuesday, their parents had actually put this to heart and suggested - suggested! - to the happy couple that they be partnered up instead. (The question remains though: why.)

On hindsight, the amused look that the Mikoshiba boy and Masayuki's darling sister Chiyo had exchanged was highly suspect, Masayuki thinks.

"Something wrong? Hori-senpai?"

Masayuki shakes his head, as if doing so would banish all errant thoughts. If only it was that easy. "It's nothing, Kashima."

But that's a lie, especially seeing as Yu is just so damned close to him - especially seeing as she's wearing that.

Now, it's not exactly a surprise that Masayuki thinks that Yu would look spectacular in anything, even an old burlap sack, but especially in that. 'That' happens to be a sleek, simple, elegant sheath dress, same as the one that both maid of honor Yuzuki Seo (Masayuki will never understand why that rough-and-tumble heiress ever became his sweet sister's best friend, but they seem good enough) and the other bridesmaid, their shared personal assistant Yukari Miyako, had been wearing. As would be expected of a highly-publicized affair, most of the main members of the wedding party had their own costume changes for the reception - for Masayuki, this would only entail a loss of his waistcoat and a barely-there loosening of his tie - and Yu's was apparently an all-out change from the matching dress to a creamy white suit, not that Masayuki was taking note of her plans or anything.
