Luke sat next to Dawn at the dinner table that evening. James and Andy sat at the other end of the table next to Dawn’s father and appeared to be having quite a conversation with him. Luke did his best to ignore Andy. After the incident in the barn, the less he had to do with him the better.

“Dawn as there is only a couple of days before the wedding and your brother’s will be home tomorrow for my stag night I think I will stay over if that’s okay with you?” He spoke softly so no one else could hear.

“Yes, of course you must stay.”

“Thanks Dawn. Maybe we can go riding together tomorrow just the two of us.” He said glancing quickly in Andy’s direction.

“Luke I am sorry about earlier, but honestly it was just all innocent fun and it was my fault really. I snatched ….”

Luke didn’t give her time to finish when he planted a firm kiss on her lips. “Let’s forget it. It’s not worth mentioning again.”

Dawn smiled and squeezed his hand. “So you still want to marry me then?” She winked at him.

“You silly girl, of course I do. Why wouldn’t I want to? We’ve been in love forever and still are, aren’t we?”

Before Dawn could reply James and Andy stood up and excused themselves saying they were ready for bed. It had been a busy day. Andy rubbed his chin as he said goodnight to Dawn. He extended his hand to Luke. “No hard feelings mate.”

Luke stood up and shook his hand. “No, we’re good Andy.”

“I think I’ll call it a night too Dawn. I have an early start in the morning. Luke, do you have everything you need tonight? Just let Dawn know if you need anything in the guest room.”

“Thanks Mr Grey, I will.”

“Good night Dad. Luke, let’s go sit outside on the patio. It’s so much cooler out there.” Dawn said as she stood up.

Luke agreed and picking up their wine glasses he followed Dawn outside.

“Dawn, are you going to make me stay in the guest room tonight?”

“Yes Luke. I know we have already made love, but I’d just like to wait till after we’re married before we sleep together all night long. Hope that’s okay with you?”

“Sure, it’s no problem at all. I do understand.”

“I think it’s time we went to bed now too. If I know my brother’s your stag night is going to be very hectic.”

“Yes, I guess you’re right. I’ll walk you to your room then.”

“You don’t have to. I do know my way and I’ve only had two glasses of wine so I’m sure I can find my way there on my own.”

“Dawn, I was just trying to be polite. Mhmm you’re a bit touchy tonight.”

“Wedding stress, I guess. It’s nothing to worry about Luke.”

Luke smiled and kissed her cheek. “Goodnight my wife to be.”

“Goodnight Luke. I think I’ll go soak in a bath for a while before going to bed.”

It was mid-morning when her brothers arrived home and after an early lunch they all went off to shower and get ready to fly into Perth for Luke’s stag night.

Chris found Luke outside by the stables unsaddling the horses after his morning ride with Dawn.

“Hi Luke, Dad said you were staying over till the wedding. That’s great, then we won’t have far to carry you after the stag night.”
