After the long explanation Nate gave me about angels i had had enough. I demanded that we go somewhere to find out about my colour wings. He said that the only place that would have books on angels would be their version of a library.
"Where is the library?"
"It's in our world, that, lets just say, is not on on earth"
"So heaven?"
"Not quite. It is called The Angel City. It's where all angels live if they don't live on earth" Great, i guess i'm gonna be going to a place full of normal angels to find out why i'm different.
"Well as my dad isn't actually my dad and Eve probably got scared and ran away after last night, lets go to Angel City"
"Not quite yet"
"Why?"
"Because you don't have your wings you numpty" Oh. "Don't worry, it hurts a lot the first time but after that it's amazing. I'll show you. Come on" I followed him outside into a massive garden. He told me to concentrate on my back and imagine a pair of wings breaking through my skin and out of my back. Shit, this was going to hurt. As i put everything i could into thinking a sudden pain in my shoulder blades had me screaming.
"It's OK, just remember what i said" He put his hand on my arm and stared into my eyes. His touch sent tingles all over my body. I tried again and i heard a loud ripping sound as the most excruciating pain came from the same place. I held in my scream this time and put up my hand to touch where the pain had come from. Nate grabbed my hand to stop me but i had already reached the spot, i pulled back my hand and it was covered with red.
"OH GOD I'M BLEEDING!" It was at that point where i started to panic. My breathing and heart beat increased rapidly when Nate put his hands on either side of my face and closed his eyes. My heart beat slowed as i calmed down. Then he smiled as he looked past me but i saw a flash of worry on his face.
"What i turned my head around to see my massive wings spread out behind me. He was right. They were black as night slowly fading into blood red as it got closer to the tips. But they were beautiful.
"Wow" we both said at the same time. We laughed a little. I had done it. I had my wings, but now i had to learn to fly.
"OK so flying is actually pretty simple, just flap your wings a bit and jump in the air" he said with a grin on his face.
Simple he said. I had been trying for about 5 minutes when i finally got more than a metre off the ground. It's actually a lot harder than i thought it would be, trying to get control of the massive wings ,that are probably the same height as me, on my back and getting them to move is hard work. I was about to give up when it worked. I flew up into the air, not as gracefully as i would have hoped, and hovered until Nate joined me.
"You happy, cause you havn't said much since you got your wings?"
"Yeah i'm fine, it's just a lot to take in. I still can't believe i was nearly killed yesterday..."
"Yeah well just try to forget about that for now. You hungry?" i nodded and we walked back inside. While we ate i decided now would be a good time to find out some stuff about Nate.
"So tell me about yourself all i really know is your a warrior angel called Nathaniel"
"Well, i don't think i mentioned this earlier, all angels have one unique power nd mine is control over emotions. You saw earlier when i put my hands on your face and you suddenly felt calmer, well that was me. Also in the Angel City you don't get older soooo i'm actually 103 years old, which is actually still pretty young. However, my physical age is 19" He winked at me. Wow.
"Whatever, now how do we get to the Angel City?"
"You wonder why it was so important you had to fly before we went? Well when we get there its a long drop down, You will need to use your wings to slow the fall"
"OK but you still havn't told me how we get there"
"Fine" now we're getting somewhere, "Look it's hard to explain" oh no, "Just what ever you do when we leave you do not lag behind me. If i lose you I really lose you, and i don't want that to happen..." He looked away from me then and walked out the room. Strange. After waiting for him to come back in here i decided to go find him. Obviously the second i stood up, he walked in the room with some new jeans on and he had discarded his black t-shirt. He handed me some leggings, my boots and a vest top.
"Your clothes are still kinda covered in blood so here's some others. I bought them when you were unconscious" I took them and walked back into the room i woke up in, got changed and walked back to Nate.
