"Mom, what happened?" I ask and she then looks at me. Wrapping my arms around her, I try to make her stop.
"Winter, I am making a big deal. But your father got fired from work," mom wails. "Emeka come here sweetie."
I must have had a confused face, because mom explains that he got fired, because the business has less money to pay for more employees.
"It's OKAY mom!" I exclaim. I'm glad she knew she was overreacting.

"My dad got fired today," I tell Nic, as we walk through a park.
"I'm so sorry Winter!" He yells and gives me a small hug.
"Okay I don't need all the "loving" right now. I should probably just calm down, everything will be fine," I say again, more to myself then Nic. He then gets up, says bye, and leaves. I sit there for a little while longer, letting the new rain soak my sweater up.
"Winter!" I here somebody say. Winifred.
"Winifred?" I reply as Wini walks up to the park bench, I am sitting at.
"I heard what happened, I am so sorry Winter!" Winifred exclaims, wrapping her arms around me.
"It's fine, Winifred! Just I wish people would stop mentioning it!" I yell, and she gives me a face of shock.
I get off the chair, and storm off.

Bethany walks into the room, with Emeka next to her. "I-I, are you okay Winter? You seem to be in here a lot," Bethany says, and looks toward a bag of chips I was eating.
"I am fine Bethany! Why does everybody think I am upset, when everybody else in this family should be!" I yell. "Dad lost his job, and I might have lost my best friend!"
Emeka and Bethany leave the room, with the young boy crying.
"Why do people HATE me!!" I wail, and shove my face into a pillow.
