“I’m serious. You’re a teleporter. You just decide to ‘show up’ in the middle of the day and don’t care if anyone sees you. Do you know how risky that is?”
The throbbing stops but he can still hear the electronic music from the dance floor. Kage is standing up now; he’s staring at this guy like he’s 5 years old. The man raises his eyebrows.
“Would you like me to explain what the hell is going on?
Kage nodded with his mouth slightly open.
“I’m Doctor. Bernard. I am let’s say, a special doctor. My son was diagnosed with a pair of wings when he was about 8. I had been studying mutation effects on frogs during this time so I thought, why not try it out? However, I couldn’t fix him. But, I did make society accept him, made them think that he is just like every other child. A couple of weeks ago I heard that in the Japan region there had been some unusual activity. Such as, people appearing out of thin air. I was sent to Tokyo to perform a special operation on a patient. I was on my way to the hospital and noticed a boy and a girl disappear right in front of me. I saw the girl’s face but not the boys. The next day, on the way back from a successful operation, I saw the girl shopping. I decided to approach her. I kept my face well hidden under my hat and suit which I was wearing at the time. She led me to you Kage.”
Kage was sitting down now, still amazed at the doctor.
“So, I knew Ayumi would alert you to what had happened so I knew you would make your way over to Shinjuku Square eventually. The setup was originally quite elaborate, but I went with a more simple approach. The mugger was fake; in fact he was a Japanese doctor I met this morning. He forced you into the back entrance into this club. So, you got any questions?”
Kage is more relaxed now; but still, very confused.
“Is there any point of this meeting other than you telling me that you’ve been stalking me and the only friend I’ve managed to make for 2 days?” Kage managed to say.
“Believe it or not, yes there is. The Sunday coming I will be coming to the internet café that you attend at lunch time almost every weekend. I will take you from there to my underground facility in London, specially made for people like you.”
“People like me?”
"People with abnormal qualities.” The Doctor said as his intelligent eyes peered at him through his glasses.
“Um, cool.”
The Doctor began to walk out but stopped as he reached the curtains.
“Kage. I need you to understand the severity that you could cause. Humans are not ready for the sudden realization that superpowers, comics and even villains like in comic books are real. Do not mention anything that we talked about today or your parents will most probably be murdered.”
“Most probably?”
"By most probably I mean, they will be killed.”
The Doctor left him alone in the white room. Kage was shocked; he didn’t know what to do. He knew one thing. Things were definitely going to be much more interesting.
