"Oi, Evans, what are you doing sitting outside in this weather?" James said, throwing the invisibility cloak off and bracing himself for the icy weather. Lily turned her head to look at him as she pulled her scarf closer around her neck.

"I needed to think, it's stifling in there" She commented, referring to the Quidditch after party going on in the Gryffindor Common Room

"You wouldn't want to stay out here for too long, you'll catch a cold," James reasoned "Come inside and we'll go somewhere else maybe?"

"Okay" She said with a brilliant smile, allowing James to take them somewhere warmer. James took her hand, her skin cool against his own.

"Shall we go down to the kitchens? It's always nice there."

Lily nodded as she leant into his warmth gently.

"That sounds perfect" She said her teeth chattering from the cold. As soon as they reached the kitchen they were bombarded by a hundred house elves, clambering for position to serve them.

"Can I just have a couple of hot chocolates please? This one was smart enough to sit out in the cold." Lily blushed at his comment as she moved to sit at a small table in the corner. They'd got inside just in time as it was now snowing heavily according to the enchanted window in the kitchens. The hot chocolates were spectacular as always. James and Lily sat and talked for hours, after the elves had started preparing for breakfast.

"We should probably be getting back to the common room. I don't fancy a detention."

"Oh" Lily replied with a sad smile. She never thought it was possible to enjoy James Potter's company but here she was wishing he'd never leave.

"I thought you hated rules" She commented curiously.

"Well I figure that my time would be better spent with you than in detention."

"Then why not stay here for a bit longer?" She suggested brightly, knowing if she were to go back now she'd have Black trying to shove his tongue down her throat.

"Maybe just until dawn?" James suggested. Lily smiled at him as she blew across her hot chocolate.

"Why did you come looking for me?" She asked curiously.

"I would have thought you'd want to be with your friends" She noted, tilting her head to the side slightly

"Well that's simple, you're you. My friends don't come this attractive And you're way easier to talk to... The list goes on."

"You're not bad yourself" She replied with a small laugh.

"Not bad? That's an understatement, I'm practically a god!" James joked.

Lily laughed loudly, "In your dreams Potter" She said softly. James leaned in and wiped the froth of Lily's upper lip.

"Your eyes are beautiful..." He said dreamily. Lily blushed when he touched her lip.

"Thank you" She said in a whisper as she looked at him nervously.

"Any time." and he kissed her. Lily gasped when he kissed her and then she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him back eagerly. It seemed to last an eternity. Fireworks flashed in front of James' eyes, his stomach doing backflips. Her lips were softer than velvet. Nothing could ruin this moment. Lily heard someone moan into the kiss though she wasn't sure who it was and then something clicked and she realised it was her. Her heart beat wildly against her chest and her stomach was in knots at the feel of his lips against hers James broke off the kiss at last.
