He’s perfect. Well, for you he is. And when you say perfect it means that he’s good-looking, smart, funny, adorable, sweet, thoughtful, and hardworking. He treats you right and most especially he loves you more than anything. He’s a perfect friend, brother, mentor, perfect boyfriend and you know that he could be a perfect partner in life. He listens to your endless stories and rants about life. He calls you at every possible time just to tell you how much he loves you. He joins you in your shopping escapades no matter how he hates going from one shop to another, just so someone would carry the shopping bags for you. He comes over to your place, cooks you hot soup, and takes care of you whenever you are sick. He answers your calls even in the middle of the night when you have nightmares and will talk to you until you feel better again. He’s patient to you even if you’re all but bitchy to him during your off-days. He never fails to make you smile and laugh especially during down times. He’s not afraid to look stupid or fool just to show you how special you are to him. One look in your eyes and he knows if you’re okay or not. He makes it sure that you arrive home safely when he wasn’t able to fetch you. Even at your most stressful and tiring days and you feel like crap, he never fails to make you feel like you’re the most beautiful girl in his eyes. He laughs at your jokes no matter how corny it is. He hugs you, kisses you, and comforts you when you’re sad. He’s always there for you, good or bad times. He is your instant companion, partner in crime, supporter, shock-absorber, instant protector. He loves you and what’s special is that you love him too.
You knew you were perfect for each other. He’s happy, you’re happy, both of you are undeniably happy with each other. And whenever you ask him, “Until when will you love me?” he always looks at you straight in the eyes and whispers, “forever”, and smiles at you. You wished that things will stay as it is until you both grew old. But what we all know is that, not all wishes come true. One day he as rushed to the hospital because he got hit by a rushing car. You immediately went to the hospital and were directed at the operating room. You kept on nervously pacing back and forth while waiting for any news. After a while the doctor came out from the operating room. He asked if you are the girlfriend of the patient. You immediately said yes, then he told you news that you never wanted to hear. News that you prayed not to be true, but it was. He told you that they can’t do anything to save his life anymore because too much blood is already lost and the impact of the accident is too severe.
“I’m going to be frank to you Miss, but he will not make it through the morning.” Your world crashed upon hearing this. Memories of him smiling, laughing, of him running and enthusiastically talking to you, of him full of life. Fat tears kept on falling from eyes one after another. Your frantically shook your head as if way of telling the doctor that he is lying, that this is a bad joke, that he is making a huge mistake. But the doctor just looked at you, a sympathetic and sorry look on his face. The doctor told you that he is looking for you, and kept on calling your name. You stared blankly at the door, not wanting to go inside and confirm what the doctor has been telling you. But the doctor said, “You should go inside and see him. This maybe the only chance you have to spend with each other.” With this you bravely pushed the door open, and there in the middle of the room, you saw him, lying in a bed, all covered in blood. You approached him, held his hand and caressed his cheek. Slowly his eyes opened, and a smiled upon seeing your face. You smiled back, but a tear rolled down your cheek. “Please don’t cry.” He said as he reached a shaking hand and dried your tears, but the gesture made you cry harder. “How can I not cry if I know that you are leaving me? Please don’t leave me? I can’t lose you. I love you, too much.” You said while sobbing. You saw that he’s already crying too. “You know I don’t want to leave you, but I can’t. I’m too tired already. I can feel it.” You kept on sobbing while leaning over his hand on your cheek. “I’m so sorry. I know I promised to be your groom but I think I won’t be able to do that anymore. I-I’m s-sorry babe if I’m not a perfect boyfriend. I love you…so much…but I need to go.” You held his hand tighter. “No! Don’t leave me! I can’t…please…you promised me, forever right? Right?!”You half-screamed while crying. “I-I’m so sorry. You know I will always be here for you. I w-will continue…guiding you from…above.” He said pain evident in his face and voice. “Shhh, stop talking. You need to rest now, so you will recover soon.” You said. “You know that’s i-impossible, r-right?” he whispered. You cried harder and hugged him. On your mind you kept on praying to God that he will be alright, that everything will be okay. “I l-love you so much, b-babe.” He said while looking lovingly at your eyes. You leaned down and kissed his dry and chapped lips gently. “I love you too babe. You will always and forever be the only perfect boyfriend I will have. I love you, forever right?”
“Forever.” He said as he slowly closed his eyes. You saw as he took his last breath, as the machine monitoring his heart beat went into a flat straight line, you watched as the doctor and nurses rushed inside to check his body, you watched as the doctor declared his time of death. You just stared there, too shocked to move, to react, to feel the pain, or to hear the noises around you. All you see is him, as he closed his eyes, as he drew his last breath, and as the perfect guy you loved died.
