Lay down on the ground,
and just
look
up.held up like a baby blue sheet,
white specks of paint called clouds,
a circle of bright yellow painted over your head,
a tent of color from sunrise to sunset,
held above our heads like a children's fort.the stars chase each other across the dark space of infinity.
the moon watches as the hustle of our nightly routine begins.
the sun sees our tired morning eyes, sees our dread once we open our eyes to tap our alarms...
praying for 15 minutes more of sleep.
praying for the sun to go back to bed.the clouds run and disappear,
like a game above our heads,
they form horses
and dogs
and dragons with 6 tongues
they throw water when they cry,
they throw lightning when they yell,
they show the sun on the days where they're happy,
they block it on days where they want to be seen...
when they want to be loved.rumbles of thunder,
purple flashes of lighting.
rain,
snow,
sun,
day,
night.the sky is looked over and taken for granted,
from the beautiful colors, to shapes of clouds
from the stories it knows,
to the daily stories it learns.the sky gives us freedom,
the sky gives us hope.
the sky gives us curiosity,
learning opportunities,
and jobs for young astronomers...
and for the curious-
bright-eyed children that dream to touch the moon in a space suit of their own.invisible barriers of curiosity and wonder,
a life of looking down...
when the sky just wants us to look up.the sun comes back every morning, no matter how much we may dread it.
the moon comes back every night when we just want to sleep, or when we never want the best night of our lives to come to a close.
the stars come out and dance whether you look to find them or not.the sky starts fresh every
single
day.the sky doesn't carry the bad days with it,
the sky doesn't need snapchat to function,
the sky lives every single day with color,
and beauty,
no judgement,
and grows to be the best example in our lives...
but most of us choose to ignore it.the sky has been here through every bad day,
every late night,
every love,
every tear,
the sky's been here for it all.so i ask you...
please...
look up.
