Alexa

Looking at him through the fence is torture; I want to be by his side, not on the other side of this stupid fence. ‘I miss you already’ I think to him sadly letting my head drop. Hearing his whine I snap my head up quickly looking for a sign of danger. ‘What is it?!’ I ask tensely waiting for is answer as he looks at me weirdly. Suddenly a choking sound breaks the silence and I realise after a few minutes that he’s laughing at me. ‘Do you know how adorable you are?’  He asks looking at me with loving eyes. ‘I guess?’ I answer in confusion, what does this have to do with him whining then laughing at me? ‘Do you still not get it?’ he asks while cocking his head to the left. ‘Yes now please explain to me before I go crazy!’ I yell at him before walking around in small circles. Not knowing why he whined is making me anxious; not being able to be next to him and see if he’s hurt is killing me! Growling in irritation, I drop my bottom on the ground swishing my tail in annoyance and my ears twitch at every sound.

Once again a choking sound fills my ears and I look at him in surprise. How could he laugh at me! Glaring at him I wait for him to stop laughing at me to remind him about his explanation. ‘Are you trying to make me crazy? Explain!’ Rolling his eyes his voice fills my mind and my eyes widen in shock at him. ‘I whined because I feel the same way as you, I want to rip this fence apart so I can cuddle next to you. It pains me not to be able to brush my fur against yours every few minutes just to reassure myself that you’re not a dream.’ Letting out a sigh of relief I raise up from the floor and go as close I can to the fence. Moving my body around I make a sound of content as my scent combines with the smell of the fence so he always knew where to meet me. Once done I look at him with happiness in my eyes. Now, even if I not here, he can smell me and feel comforted. ‘What in the world did you just do? It looked like you were scratching yourself…’ he asks with confusion written plainly on his face. Laughing at him, I send him an image of myself smiling in human form. ‘I rubbed against the fence so my scent would mix with it so when I’m not here you can still feel close to me in a way.’ I reply as I lay down on the floor, my side pressing into the fence. ‘Hmmmm…..’ he replies but I barely hear him as my eyes close and I rest my head on my paws.   My tiredness takes over I feel something scarcely brush my fur, turning to look I find him lying in the same position as me but on the other side of the fence. Smiling to myself, I let the darkness take over and fall fast asleep.

The sound of a hooting owl wakes me with a start. Quickly standing up I take a quick look for any danger, finding none I sit on my haunches satisfied . ‘So sleeping beauty’s finally awake?’ a silky-smooth voice asks. Looking to my left I find him staring at me with loving eyes. Rolling his eyes at his new nick name I ask, ‘What time is it?’ ‘I’d say around eight o'cloock. We’d better get back before they send out search parties out.’ He replies. Nodding my head I rub against the fence again to make sure my scent stays for more than a just a few hours. Once finished I watch him do the same and I give a soft purr to show I approved.  ‘I’ll see you in school!’ I send to him before running towards home. ‘See you tomorrow Love.’ He answers softly. Blushing cherry red, I’m thankful he can’t see my face, even if wolves can’t blush. Quickly reaching the river I slow down and sniff the air, something doesn’t feel right. Finding nothing but the usual smells I walk slowly through the cold water. Stopping, I take a few sips before I hear trees rustling to my right.

Stopping in mid-sip I raise my head quickly before letting out a warning growl. Staring, I wait in silence until birds fly from the top of a tree. ‘There’s nothing out there, only other than animals…..’ I think to myself in uncertainty as the feeling of dread grows worse. Moving my head back to the front I start walking, ready to dash at any given moment. After climbing out of the river I head straight for the field instead of the forest where an enemy can easily hide. Looking up at the sky I watched as clouds changed from pink, orange and purple to dark blue and grey. ‘Must be a storm coming.’ I think as I quicken my pace not wanting to be out in a storm. Suddenly thunder erupts from the sky, sounding way too close for comfort. Seconds later a large flash of lighting lights up the earth. ‘Great, what could possibly go wrong now?’ I ask myself as it starts to pour.

Reaching the middle of the field I stop and shake some water off my fur so it wouldn’t be so heavy. Under the pounding of rain I hear a weird noise, something clicking together that sounds a lot like metal. Turning towards the sound I look for the source but even with my heightened scenes, the rain is too thick. ‘Come on lighting, give me some light to see with!’ I scream in my mind, still looking for something to catch my eye. As if answering my thoughts, thunder resonates from above followed quickly by a bright flash from above and I stare at the trees confused. I’m sure I heard a gun, but the only people who would have guns on this land are trespassing hunters. ‘Wait a second, if that’s what I think it was then we hav-.‘ I start to think but all thoughts are forgotten as a burning pain enters my chest. Releasing a howl of pain, I crumble to the freezing wet ground in shock. Looking down I see red liquid pouring from my chest rapidly like a gushing river. Glancing back towards the tree’s I growl at the sight before me. Clad in a deep green with black boots and a shot gun resting on his shoulder, Jason stares at me with amusement clear as day on his face. Growling louder as he comes closer I restrain from jumping up and biting his head off because I would lose blood much faster. But just because I couldn’t do it doesn’t mean I didn’t think about it.

“Well, what do we have here? All alone? Well I better stop your bleeding or my hostage will die before she can even change back into a human.” His words register in my mind and I shiver in disgust at the thought of him taking me anywhere. Snapping at him while he kneels by my face, I watch as his face turns blank before his eyes shape into slits and small frown sits on his face. “Thought you might would have known that you should be behave nicely, but I guess you’re not smart enough for that.’ He tells me with an irritated look. Glaring at him with hate in my eyes, I try to get up but he pushes me back down just as quickly. “Trying to escape now? You really don’t know how behave like a good hostages do you?” he asks laughing like a maniac. In response, I growl at him in irritation as I watch my blood pool on the ground. “Well I would love to chat with you more but we have to get moving.” He tells me while as he stands up and looks up at the sky. I look at him like he’s mad, if he thinks I’m going anywhere with him he must be more of a lunatic than I thought! Looking at my face I watch as his eyes gleam with a mischievous glint before his hands move the gun from his shoulder and hovers it above my head. “Night-y night sweet Alexa” he declares before slamming the butt of the gun on my head. Black dots race across my vision and my head is too heavy for me to lift any longer so it falls to the ground with a solid thud. The last thing I hear is a furious growl before I surrender to the darkness.
