Every since he was young, Kris knew he was different from everyone else. He could never sit still for long a long amount of time. He had trouble reading from his textbook. Through his eyes, everyone seemed to be moving very slowly, or not moving at all.

He always got bullied, and was always called a bastard because his father was never around, he never met his father. He had always lived with his mother and her husband. Every once in a while he would think that his father abandoned him because he was ashamed.

Kris had pepper black hair, he had golden eyes that seemed to shine. He had an average build, he was slightly taller than the average height. He had skin the color of milk chocolate. Kris was 13 in his last year of middle school, and that's when everything changed for him.

Kris was so excited, in a few more days he would be out of middle school and would soon be a high schooler. After the last day of school, Kris ran home to tell his mom the good news, and that's when everything went wrong.

As soon as Kris stepped off of school grounds he heard a voice in his head. This voice was as faint as a whisper but also contained much malice. Thinking that this was just his imagination he continued walking. Now Kris lived in the woods unlike everyone else. His mom said it was safer there. But Kris found that this was a lie.

As soon as Kris stepped into the woods, he heard this weird sound. He thought nothing of it until the sound got louder and louder. He turned around to confront the noise and was caught off guard as he saw the most ruthless bully Tom behind him.

Now, even though Tom was smaller than Kris, he had more muscle and was a lot more aggressive. Tom had dirty blonde hair that got darker when the light hit it. He had storm grey eyes that seemed to be able to peer into your very soul. Whenever he grinned, it always had a mischievous glint about it that always let you know that he was up to no good.

"What do you want Tom?" Kris asked not taking his eyes off of the taller boy for even a minute so that he could be prepared for if a fight broke out. Tom just stared at Kris with malice in his eyes that made Kris want to crawl into a hole and never come out. But somehow he managed to stay rooted in the one spot that he was in, despite his fear of the other boy.

"You already know why I'm here." Tom said to the other boy. "It's time for your daily beating, and don't even think about running away." As soon as Tom said that, many people that Kris knew were bullies from his school came out and surrounded Tom and himself. Kris groaned as he realized that he was surrounded and could do nothing to escape.

In the next moment before Kris could react, Tom was already charging at him. In a last minute attempt at defending himself, Kris held his hands out in front of himself and had balled his fists while tensing his muscles and closing his eyes. As he prepared for the attack, he felt his brain straining and he opened his eyes to see Tom moving in slow motion. At first he thought a prank was being pulled on him, but at a second glance, he noticed that everything was moving in slow motion, including the leaves falling from the trees.

Kris had no clue what was going on, but before whatever was going on could stop, he quickly moved out of the way and wiggled his way through the crowd of bullies and ran as fast as he could. As he ran through the woods to put as much distance between himself and the bullies, he heard a voice in his head. This one was different from the one he heard earlier. It had a calmness about it that seemed to assure his safety if went to it. But Kris ignored this voice and continued running until he reached a clearing in the woods, he had finally made it home.

As he made it to his home, he ran inside. The house was oddly quiet, but he shrugged it off thinking that his mother had left out to go shopping. After easing his mind, he ran up to his room and kicked off his shoes and jumped onto his bed. He was tired and stressed out with all the weird things that were going on today. First it was the weird malicious voice that he heard, then it was the fight with the bullies with everything moving slowly, and finally the second voice he heard that seemed to be calling him to safety. He decided that he would talk to his mom about it to see if she could help him figure out what was going on.

Kris soon heard the sound of his front door opening and quickly ran downstairs expecting to see his mother at the door. His expectations were crushed when instead of seeing his mother, he saw about five teens, three boys and two girls, all of them wearing black shirts and having weapons attached to some part or another of their bodies. At the sight of the weapons, he started to panic. He would call for help if he could, but his mother didn't allow him to have a phone.

Kris was about to turn his body to run away when one of the girls, a brunette who seemed to hold the most authority, called out to him. "Hello boy." She said and he found himself unable to move a single inch. "We are not here to hurt you," she said but Kris found it hard to believe her what with all the weapons that he saw attached to them, "we only want to take you to a safe place." She smiled at him and held out her hand to him. "Won't you please come with us?" She asked, but to Kris it seemed to be more of a demand. He glanced between her and her weapon before reluctantly grabbing her hand. He didn't trust her but decided to go with her since it seemed she wanted him alive, if she didn't, then she would have run him through with the shimmering bronze knife that she had belted to her waist.
