Troye POV
If you told me that I was going to meet Tyler Oakley and come out today, I would've thought you were on some sort of drug. But I guess my life if made up of one unexpected experience after another, right?
Some background, so you won't be so confused about who I am and what my life is:
My name is Troye Sivan Mellet.
I am fifteen years old.
My best friend is Kayla Horowitz.
Six months ago, I came out to her as bisexual. I don't think I'm bisexual, exactly, but it did make me consider the fact that I'm probably not straight.
I think I'm gay.
I'm most likely gay.
I have not told anyone else.
I've gone to YouTube for coming out videos for advice, help, and courage.
Many people have inadvertently been there for me, such as Tyler Oakley and many other LGBTQA YouTubers.
I've never been in love, though that's not important, since I'm only fifteen and I don't even know what love is, or who exactly I'm attracted to, in the first place. Now that that's out of the way, let's get right to business. Ah, let's see. Oh! Right, so I was going to the strip-mall, splitting up from the rest of my family, as they did, just wandering the shops, and I decide to get inside the elevator in... I'm not even sure which shop it was, anymore. Nordstrom's? Sears? Oh, who gives a fuck. You don't care about that.
Anyways, I got in the elevator, planning to go up three floors. Once I went up one floor, it stopped, admitting someone on.
I almost stopped breathing when I saw the new passenger.
Anyone who did not spend much time on the internet wouldn't have recognized the twenty-one year old man who just entered the elevator, from his dirty blond hair to his frameless glasses to his short stature. But I've spent plenty of time on social media, and due to both obvious and personal reasons, I've watched tons of the man's videos and stalked him on other medias, such as Twitter.
But this man lived in America, and I lived in Australia, and I don't remember him mentioning lately that he was visiting the area. I would've went insane had I known that. But yet, here was the one and only Tyler Oakley standing in my elevator, tossing an easy smile in my direction, and pressing the button for the floor above mine.
"Hi!" he said to me, which I wasn't expecting. Does he always address people this way in elevators?
Either way, I didn't want him to think I was some kind of obsessed fanboy, so I gave him a restrained smile, and said,"Hey," in a rather weak voice.
I didn't expect him to keep up conversation, but he continued,"So, I'm kind of new to the area, but what is a good place nearby to eat for lunch? I'll eat almost anything, because girl, food is a gift to humanity. Seriously."
I nodded kind of nervously, and said,"Well, if that's the case, I can recommend Taco Bell. It's downstairs, and you seem like the kind of person who'd enjoy Mexican."
He gasped, and brought a hand to his chest. "Oh my God, I love Taco Bell. How did you guess?"
I shrugged, blushing, and barely managed to say in an audible sentence,"Dunno. I thought everyone liked Taco Bell, except for prissy people who want the so-called 'authentic Mexican cuisine'," while putting air quotes around authentic Mexican cuisine.
Suddenly, the floor shook, and the light in the machine flickered then went out, leaving us in a dimmer elevator. Tyler staggered to the side, but I wasn't so lucky: I flat out stumbled into the wall, smacking my elbow near the corner, and would've slammed my shoulder into it had Tyler not reached out to steady me.
"Shit," I muttered. "Hit the emergency button!" I told Tyler, gesturing wildly to the array of various buttons, hoping he'd know what to do, since I was still nursing my banged up elbow. It kind of hurt to bend, but I was confident that nothing was broken or anything like that.
