Libby got up out of her bed. She glanced at her clock. "Shoot, I'm late." Libby grabbed a random pair of half dirty jeans out of the hamper and a red school spirit shirt out of her closet.
She slid down the banister. The house was empty just like every other day. Her mom was always out on "business trips" and would be gone for weeks at a time. She never knew what happened to her father.
Libby dunked her hand into a bucket full of a mixture of pumpkin seeds and rolled oats. Grabbing a couple she threw them into the grass for the crows. She liked feeding them since she had no real pets. A crow flew down from the roof and selected a pumpkin seed.
Libby struggles to get her backpack on as she rushed down the street to the school.
She stepped in a small puddle, making her old, worn, shoe wet and smelly. Glancing at her watch she ran faster. 7:50. She busted threw the door to her average public school and swung open her locker, making a loud metal clank. Libby grabbed her books and headed to her first class. As she took a seat in the Science classroom she heard giggling behind her. Then something hit her back. She turned around to see a crumbled paper on the ground and the biggest bullies of her grade. Libby picked up the paper and opened it to reveal "looser" written in big red letters. "Wow, can't even spell can you?" She said to the girls behind her.
She crumbled the paper back up and threw it across the room into the trash can. After a while the teacher walked in and began the lesson. When school finally ended she walked home, looking at the beautiful autumn leaves on the trees. She wrapped her sweater tighter around her a cold gust of wind whirled by her.
As Libby stepped inside she threw her bag onto the floor and reached her hand into the bucket of crow food.
She throws it out into the grass and the crows eat it happily. Then one crow swoops down from a nearby power line with an acorn in its mouth. The crow proceeds to drop the acorn and Libby's feet and then looks at her.
Libby found this fascinating that the crow was not frightened even when she bent down to pick up the acorn. The crow had a white marking on it head so she could distinguish him from the others. "I'll name you..." Libby thought for a while. "Jerry." She laughed at her own randomness. Jerry flew off over to the food.
Libby walked inside and checked her bag for homework. She had none. She went back outside deciding she would walk over to Ned's house. Ned was her best friend. She eventually made it there and rung the doorbell.
Ned Answered the door. "Hey, bro, sorry I didn't text before coming." Libby apologized. I honestly forgot!" "No biggie." He reassured.
They went to the basement and cane back out with a bat and a baseball. Ned places twigs in a square shape to make bases. They played until the sun began to give up on them. "I better get going." She admitted.
They put the baseball and bat up but left the twigs so they could play later. Libby waved goodbye to Ned and his mom. As much as she wanted to get home before it got dark she stopped by Mrs. Creature's house.
She was this very sweet old lady and Libby fort hot to visit her that day. She opened the door knowing Mrs. Creature wouldn't hear the knock. Mrs. Creature was sitting by the window reading a book. "Hello, Mrs. Creature!" Libby said, louder so that she could hear her. "What are you reading?" Oh, this wonderful book on nature." She replied.
"That's nice." Libby assured. They continued talking for only 20 more minutes until Libby announced that she had to go.
