The light streams in my eyes and I instinctively squeeze them shut. Using my best sense, hearing, I piece together where I am. My eyebrows scrunch together as I realize that I can actually hear something other than faint shuffling. I can hear beeping to my left and the mumbling of a few people to my right. This can't be right. I slowly peel my eyes open and flinch before squinting and holding my hand in front of my eyes to stop the bright, fluorescent light coming from the several long bulbs in the ceiling from blinding me.

"She's awake!" someone says to my right. I can't see who it is due to the bright light.

"Light." I whisper, not being able to think of anything else I can say. Maybe Jay will be nice enough to turn the light away from my face, I've been good enough.

"What darling?" the same voice asks.

"Light." I repeat as I sit up.

"Oh!" I hear shuffling and then the light turns off.

I move my arm back to my side and let my eyes adjust. Looking around the room, I don't recognize where I am. It looks like those hospital rooms I used to see on the TV. This can't be right. Why would I be in a hospital? Interrupting my scan of the room are two faces that I have been missing for the past two years. "Mom? Dad?" I whisper.

"Oh honey! We've missed you so much!" My dad yells out as they both embrace me. My mom sniffles a lot while she tries to squeeze the life out of me.

I hear a door open and look up to see Aydan and Alex walk in the room and freeze.

"Molly? You're awake!" Aydan smiles wide before joining my mom and dad in their embrace.

Looking up again, I lock eyes with Alex and his fill with tears.

My family finally moves away from the longest hug in history and my mom looks between me and Alex. "We'll give you two a minute." she says before grabbing my dad's and brother's arms and pulling them out of the room.

Alex and I stare at each other for a few seconds before he breaks the silence. "Baby?" He starts to slowly walk towards me like someone would walk up to a baby deer. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, he stares intensely into my eyes. "Is that really you?"

My lips form the smallest smile as confirmation.

"Oh, baby!" Alex say as he flings his arms around me. "I'm so sorry. I should have been with you. I shouldn't have let you walk alone. I'm so sorry."

I wrap my arms around his waist like I used to and nuzzle my face into his chest. "Don't be sorry." I whisper. "It wasn't your fault."

"I'm so glad you're back. I'm so glad you're safe. I've missed you so much, baby." He kisses the top of my head before continuing to hold me.

The door opens and a tall woman with curly, blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen walks in. She has on a set of faded, teal scrubs and is holding a big clipboard in her hands. "I heard somebody was awake. Hello, Molly. My name is Dr. Jones. Do you know what happened?"

I close my eyes and try to think back to before I woke up here.

The sirens are getting closer. I look behind us and see the red and blue lights lighting up the street. The car speeds up as I look over to Jay sitting beside me. He's looking out the back windshield, but quickly looks over at me with panic in his eyes.

I hear a gunshot before the car jolts and swerves to the right. My body slams into the door before slamming into the back of the driver's seat as the car suddenly comes to a stop. Every window seems to explode all at once. Something hard hits my head and my vision goes black. A black fogs fills my mind as I fall into unconsciousness.

I open my eyes and look at the doctor before nodding my head. "There was a crash." I whisper.

Dr. Jones nods her head. "Are you feeling any pain?"

"My head hurts."

The doctor walks over and messes with a bag full of liquid hanging next to my bed. A thin tub is connecting the bag to the back of my left hand. "There. The pain should go away soon. Why don't you try to rest, a police officer will be here in the morning to talk to you." She turns away and walks out of the door.

Immediately, I lay back down and close my eyes. I can already feel the pain start to go away in the side of my head.

"Goodnight, baby." Alex says as he gets up off of the bed and sits down in the chair next to me. "I'll be right here when you wake up again."

Hey guys. This is the first chapter of my newest book. It's going to be a bit confusing  for a while but everything will be tied together eventually. It's supposed to be like that. I'm not sure how often I'm going to be able to update this book, but I'm going to do my best to write as often as I can while still working on my unpublished book. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you have. Some questions I wont be able to answer, because they will give away part of the book, but I will do my best. Happy reading!
