Janai pulled the wet rag back, waking the General. She was caught off guard when the General, eyes wide, gazed back into Janai's own eyes.
The human smiled softly, causing the elven Knight's skin to grow a few shades darker. The woman lifted her hand to sign, queuing the Knight to wake Kazi from their sleep.
"Yes? What happened?" They asked urgently.
"Nothing, I just want to know what she is saying." Janai explained, using her hand to feel the General's forehead.
The General smiled, signing quickly to Kazi while Janai waited for the interpreter to translate.
Kazi laughed awkwardly, then spoke to Janai. "She said something along the lines of, 'I want to know the elf's name' I don't think she would want you to know the rest of what she said."
Janai cocked her head, squinting at the human. "Fine, but you ask for her name."
Kazi did as they were told. "She says her name is Amaya." Kazi responded with Janai's name, which caused Amaya to turn to her.
"Yes?" Janai asked, confused, still tossing the name around in her head.
Kazi began to translate for Amaya, "I want to thank you, for being so kind. However, I also want to punch you for keeping me as your prisoner." Amaya smiled, genuinely.
Janai was again, taken aback when the General pulled her into a hug. This flustered the ruthless warrior, but she chose to hide her red face with her words.
"Tell my prisoner to never do that again, if she wants to stay alive." Janai stated, eyes peering to the side.
Amaya laughed, though it was nearly silent. "You went through the trouble of keeping me alive, you might as well keep me around. Besides, your eyes betray you, Janai," Kazi translated.
Janai huffed, face red.Janai pouted, and left with little to say. "I'm going to get you two food."
. . .
Janai returned to the quiet laughter of Kazi and the brilliant smile of Amaya, and she somehow forgot of the war between their people.
