Amaya stared long and hard at Avizandum's final resting place. Janai watched as Amaya's eyes settled on the spear in the great dragon's chest, and she watched as Amaya's eyes fell, and as tears began to slip from them.
Janai wouldn't mention it, it wasn't her place to invade Amaya's thoughts. They continued forward, toward the immense Spire before them.
Upon arrival, Janai left her soldiers to guard the Spire. She allowed Amaya to accompany her. The warm squeeze of the human around her waist grounded Janai, and she felt safe, even high above the Earth.
Janai's face warmed when Amaya's grasp tightened, but she realized the reason mere seconds after. A dragon glided toward them, but blinked at them. The powerful dragon slowed marking the air with a spell.
Janai turned her head to catch a glimpse of Amaya, who calmed as she felt stronger air enter her lungs.
The dragon accompanied them to the Spire, and sought the attention of a Skywing elf standing at a ledge of the cavern. They followed closely behind the dragon, yet fell behind due to their mount's exhaustion.
When Janai's mount landed, Amaya couldn't believe her eyes. Janai watched as the stone-cold General leapt from the mount to embrace two human children.
Janai followed closely behind.
"You have an elf friend too?" The taller boy asked Amaya.
Janai flushed slightly, "We are not friends, she is my prisoner." She stated as if it were obvious.
Amaya signed, and Janai picked up on a few words. "Think...Cute...won't....it...yet."
Janai's face fell red once more, but didn't ask for a translation. Amaya and Janai spoke to the humans, the Moonshadow Elf, and the Skywing elf before forming a slight plan.
The smallest human mounted the dragon, while the Skywing elf performed magic to gain wings. Both flew away soon after, hoping to find reinforcements. Janai couldn't believe her eyes, the Moonshadow Elf and Human shared a brief kiss before they entered the cavern.
Janai briefly wondered if Amaya would be open to such a relationship, but she banished the thought quickly.
. . .
A few hours later, the elves and humans shared a brief battle meeting. Janai was sure these humans were crazy when one spoke of using primal magic, but she did not mention it until later.
"You, human child." Janai said, unsure of herself.
The human boy came forward, "Yes? My name is Callum, by the way, I'm your prisoner's nephew, well one of them."
"Oh, my mistake. I was wondering about your ability to do primal magic. How is this possible?" Janai questioned, mainly out of confusion.
"I don't know, it came to me in a fever dream. I just felt a connection to the Sky Arcanum when I woke up." Callum replied nervously.
"Show me?" Janai offered curiously.
Callum smirked and stepped out onto the balcony. Then, he took a breath and drew out a rune. Janai couldn't take her eyes from the bright flash of light and the thunder that followed.
"Brilliant, we'll be well armed with a mage like you." Janai stated in awe.
"One other thing Callum, what did your aunt say when we first arrived?""Oh, she said, um... actually you might want to ask her that. I don't feel as if it's my place. I'm sorry." Callum managed.
Janai nodded, "I respect your loyalty."
