Section 2
Broke- My twenties until presently
Stage 2- Life in Christ
2 Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
In this section of the book, I am focusing on my new life in Christ. Anyone who has been saved out of a life of self-indulgence knows that the transition is not smooth. Even though the old man has been crucified with Christ and no longer lives but Christ lives through them, it is a battle. For me, it was like entering a foreign land where customs and traditions are known by the locals and you need to figure them out. What follows is what I learned and how I learned it.
The story of how I came to Christ...
The last 10 chapters focused on a childhood devoid of foundational truth as it relates to how did we get here, why are we here, what happens when you die. It was full of lies that a majority of this world lives by like he who has the most toys wins, if you do not hurt others then it is okay, there are many roads that lead to heaven but very little comfort. God, however, in His Mercy was working through many to ask the important questions and want answers. I learned to pray to a Father because of the absence of my father. I was presented the Gospel because of a Big Brother who cared about my eternal soul. I was given opportunities to explore other beliefs and cultures so that I could weigh the value of their claims to the claims of Christ. All of my nineteen years of searching, living a life of fulfilling the needs of the flesh and trying to please God through the practices of Hinduism came to an end one evening at a place called "Think Hill". It was there that God opened my eyes to the Gospel through a faithful believer who had truth and wanted to share it. It came down to a simple challenge and truth. If you look at every other belief system that exists a person has to work to earn the favor of God, however, Christianity God does all of the work for you. He gave His Son that whosoever believes in Him will have everlasting life. The challenge to me, if it is a free gift then why will you not take it. My mind raced through the last 19 years of my life and how I failed over and over again to meet God's Standard and how much I wanted to be with Him and now I have an opportunity to be His Child. I cried I rejoice, I was busted and I said "yes". I said yes to a new life, an abundant life, a complete life and I was free for the first time in nineteen years. I was free!!
