| 5 |Double Dare

Hazel and I decided to have some bonding at the 'Wizzle's Cafe'. It was Saturday so we thought we needed a break from school. It was only us and some adults in the Cafe. The thing that I need right now, peace.

"So Archy, what's the deal with you and Keith?" I was drinking a hot coffee, because of her question it made me burst.

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, Keith seems to be weird around you. Oh, and Gary!"

"Keith and I, don't have a deal. And Gary is beyond weird. Ever since that time at the party, it makes me want to stay out of sight."

"Yeah. But you know, Gary talked to me yesterday in English class. He said he wants to apologize for acting, strange at the party. He said he was drunk."

"He doesn't look drunk to me."

"If you say so. But, are you gonna forgive him?"

"I need a time alone to think about that." I said.

"Speaking of, I think we should play a game." Hazel suggested. She was smiling.

"Sure. What kind of game. Please not anything that will make me go here and run there."

"Of course it won't be. I've thought of playing truth or dare."

"Sounds fun. I'm gonna go slow and easy first. Truth!" I exclaimed.

"Hmm. Okay." Hazel was tapping her cheek, thinking of a question she'll ask me.

"Alright, how about...What do you think of me and Dean? Are you disgusted or anything? So that we can change it." She asked.

"Actually, to be honest you guys seem to be very happy and sweet with each other's company. But, i guess you really should keep your relationship a bit hidden and personal." I said.

"Why?"

"Nuh-uh! You've already asked one question and that's enough." I joked.

"He he. Okay fine. My turn, Truth to be simple."

"Hm. Who do you ship me with?" I quickly asked.

"Ah! That's easy. I ship you with Keith." I burst out again after she said that. Which caused me to spill coffee all over. Hazel died laughing.

"That's rude Hazel Adams." I joked. She was still laughing for a couple of minutes. She finally stopped.

"Okay. Okay. Your turn. Truth or Dare?"She asked, but still panting.

"One more truth please!!!"

"Fine. Ummmmmmm. Ah! What do you think of our old best friend? Do you miss her?"

To give you a background. Our old best friend is actually Abigail. Back when we were in the 3rd grade, the three of us hang out all the time. But yes, we have different social groups. Me still being a nerd, Hazel being a jock while Abigail has that rebellious instincts. We go to lunch often and go to birthdays together. But until one day, when we were in 7th grade, Abigail began to change. We noticed she was being cold around us. Make ups, sassy outfits, new hair color and new friends. She talked to us again when we were already in 8th grade. But not in a friendly manner. She told us she doesn't want to be friends with us again. She wants to be popular and believes she can't reach that goal of popularity if she still hangs with us. Abigail started to attend crazy house parties, she sometimes have her own party but never invites us. She also started taking cigarettes and beers and boyfriends. I can't even count of how many ex's she already have due to her slutty attitude.

"Actually, no. She's not the Abigail I once knew."

"Same. Okay, i'll have a harder one. Dare."

"Hmm. Prank Dane that you're breaking up with him."

"What? No no, I can't do that."

"Hey it's a dare. A prank!"

"Grr. Uhm. No"

"Fine, you know the consequences."

"Alright, fine. What consequences?"

"Buy me anything I want. For a budget of $30."

"Hmmm. Okay! Just for today!"

"Alrighty."

"Good. My turn."

"Dare!!"

"Woah!" Hazel exclaimed. "But, once you reject this dare, you'll be the one to buy me anything for $30. Deal?"

"Fine! Deal's a deal."

"Okay. Hmm. I dare you to call Keith from the number he used to call you. And tell him that he's cute."

"What?!"

"I double dare you. Back up? Or buy me anything I want?"

I wanted to back up, but with the money i've got which is only, $10 (I know, i'm poor), I can't buy her anything.

*sighs* "Fine. I'll call him." I said and grabbed my phone from my bag. As soon as i've got it, Hazel's smile we're wider and she was acting excitedly.

"Alright. Here we go. Don't say anything!" I said as my phone was ringing leaving Hazel laughing quietly while nodding.

"Uhm. Hello?" I said on the phone.

"Hey Archy. Did you miss me?" Keith said, I think Hazel heard it.

"Disgusting you idiot. Anyway...." I said as I was motioned my phone closer to my mouth so that Hazel couldn't hear it.

"This is a dare. So don't overrea-" I was cut off as Hazel nudged me with a disappointed look.

"Alright, I get it. What is it you wanna tell me?"

"Uh. You're- you're cute." Hazel was jumping up and down, clapping sideways and laughed so hard yet no sound comes out of her mouth.

"Aww. Everyone thinks it that way. Anyway, you're cute when you smile." Keith said. But before I could say anything he hung up..

"So?" Hazel asked with her creepy smile that gives me goosebumps including her sharp eyes looking at me.

"He thinks i'm cute when I smile. Then he hung up."

Hazel gasped that made me wanna leave.
