Me, Myles, and Grayson were on the way back from the tattoo parlor when my phone started ringing.

"Yes mel-"
"Somethings wrong."
"What do you mean something's wrong?" I asked reaching over to turn the radio down. "What happened."
"I got back from lunch with Kamden and his family and I was watching a movie and then everything started hurting."
"Hurting how? Like a come and go hurt or a constant hurt?"
"At first it was come and go but now it's constant. What's happening?"
"I don't know Melody. But I need you to answer me honestly. Is it just the pain or did anything else happen?"
"Nothing els-owwwwwww." There was the sound of something dropping before she spoke again. "Nothing else has happened yet."

I took my phone away from my ear and looked at the date, she's only 26 weeks along, so this shouldn't be happening.

"Okay listen Mel. I don't know what's happening, but I'm going to call an ambulance and they are-"
"What? Why? I don't need to go to the hospital, they aren't ready to come out yet."
"Melody, I'm going to call an ambulance so that you can get to the hospital. We'll meet you there. We don't have enough time for us to come pick you up and get you to the hospital, okay? Something could seriously be wrong and I don't want anything to happen to you or them, okay?"
"Okay. Okay. Just hurry please?"
"I will Mel."

I hung up the phone and called 9-1-1.

"9-1-1 what's your emergency?"
"I need an ambulance sent to 1876 west castleton drive, Los Angelos Apartment c. My sister is home alone, she's 15 years old and 26 weeks pregnant with twins. She called me and said she was having what she described to be contractions and I'm too far away to get to her and get to a hospital before anything too serious happens."
"Alright ma'am, help is on the way. She will more than likely be transported to West Mercy Regional Hospital, it's the closest in the route."
"Thank you so much."

"What's happening?" Myles asked, leaning up between the front seats.

"Something wrong with Melody." I said, locking my phone. "Grayson we need to go to West Mercy Regional, that's where the ambulance is going to take her."

........................

"Hi, can you tell us please what room Melody Matthews is in? I'm her sister." I asked walking up to the registration desk.

"It looks like she is still getting checked out in the emergency room. If you'll have a seat in the waiting room, I'll let you know when she's ready to move." The nurse said. I nodded and we walked over to the waiting room.

Twenty minutes later, a nurse started to walk directly towards us.

"Family with Melody Matthews?" He asked and I nodded. "You said your sister was 26 weeks along, right?"

"Yeah, 26 weeks. Why?"

"Who is her primary care doctor?" He asked, looking through the chart he had.

"Family and child care on 7th street. Dr. Keller."

"That old woman should have retired and that practice shut down a long time ago."

"What do you mean?"

"We measured their twins as soon as the ambulance brought your sister in, and they were measuring at 35 weeks. There's nothing wrong with your sister or the babies, she's just in labor."

"You're kidding. Like actually kidding." I said, balling my hands into a fist tightly inside the pockets of my sweatpants.

"I wish we were. She's asking for you if you want to just follow me."

"Are you guys good here?" I asked turning around to look at Grayson and Myles. They nodded and I followed the nurse down the hall.

I walked into the room and sighed. "You lied."

"What did I lie about?" She asked, turning her head towards me.

"You knew your were pregnant a lot longer than before you dean ran away from home." I said walking around and sitting on the edge of the bed. She looked down at her fingers.

"I knew but I didn't know. I was already three months along when I came here, I just hadn't taken an actual test yet. So I didn't really lie. The rest of it happened."

"Yeah, well now here we are, you have nothing for either of the babies because you thought you had 14 weeks left and at most you have twenty four hours before they are here." I said, taking my phone out of my pocket.

"I know." She mumbled. "What are you doing?"

"You can't take them home without car seats, and they can't sleep on the floor. So I'm ordering some stuff and I'm going to get Grayson to go pick it up. And then I'm going to have to send him and Myles to go get some of the clothes that you already had for them so they don't have to go home naked. And you're going to need something to wear home so they're going to have to get that too."

..................

"Did you call mom?" Melody asked. We'd already been in here for about six hours now and still no babies.

"Did you call their dad?" We both knew he questions to both of them.

"Kamden's parents tried to buy the babies from me." She said, and I looked up from my phone at her with wide eyes. "Today at lunch."

"What the fuck?" I asked. "Is that even legal?"

"I don't think so. But that's why I stormed out and went home."

"Oh you better hope their asses don't show up here or I might have to start swinging." I said through my teeth.

"Easy there tiger." Grayson said, walking through the door with the stuff I sent them to get two hours ago. "You're not going to punch anyone."

"It took you long enough. Did you get lost?"

"No. I had to stop and get something." He said, pulling an oddly large bag from behind the room door.

"What is that?" Melody asked, trying to sit up in the bed a little to try and see.

"Just some stuff for the babies. Nothing major."
