The clock was ticking with every second that passed. I could practically hear it loudly in my mind, blocking every other sound around me as I was waiting anxiously for the bell to rescue me from the boredom people call History.
Academically I was ahead most of the time, studying on my own using my music, not straight A's but, never lower than a B, which is great! Considering most of the time I am busy looking around watching my surrounding each time all over again, noticing every detail in my too normal life. Hoping, each time, that maybe something exciting will happen to my regular self.
Hoping that maybe someone will notice me, that maybe a hot guy from the lacrosse team will hit on me, and I'll be like these girls that can play 'hard-to-get' knowing they will chase them until they'll be theirs, but… let's face it – I could never be like them or one of them. Apparently, I am a tuna fish in a can next to an expensive grouper fish so I should be thankful if a guy even speaks to me - as I was told last year by the girl I used to call my best friend, that one day decided to make my life miserable. For starters – taking the one boy I was crashing on big time and make him hers and humiliating me in front of my whole school!"god, I'm such a baby" I mumbled to myself, barely reaching to the level of whispering as the bell came to my rescue of sinking deeper into my cruel thoughts.
"alright class, don't forget the assignment for next week, have a nice day" Mr. Yukimura said as he closed the book on his desk.
The class, gladly, was quick to empty while I was the last one to walk out, not before stopping by the teacher's desk, "Mr. Yukimura" I draw his attention as he smiled, waiting for me to talk, "I actually have the assignment for today, is that okay to give it away now?" I asked handing the purple folder with my name written beautifully in white.
Mr. Yukimura smiled as he took it from my hands, "I wish all of my students were as responsible as you Miss Turner, you make my teaching easier" he chuckled as he looked at the organized work proudly.
I smiled, "thanks, have a nice day Mr. Yukimura" I said as I made my way out of class hearing the blessing returning as Mr. Yukimura called back.
I sighed in relief as I got to my locker, "one less school head ache" I mumbled pushing some notebooks and books that I won't be needing back home, feeling relief as I know that the weekend is just around the corner and feeling the freedom from any school related things, such as paper work, homework, assignments and people.
"ready for lunch?" the face I know and love appeared just behind the metal door as I closed my locker, "cause I know I am, I have a lot of things to tell you!" Mia, AKA my best friend, said with so much excitement, practically giving away exactly the subject of our soon coming conversation.
I tapped a finger to my chin, looking up 'thinking' about what the conversation could be about, "hmmm, let me guess – boys" I said quickly with an oh-so-obviously look before cracking a smile at her as we started walking to the cafeteria.
"duhh!" Mia rolled her eyes before skipping in front me, blocking my way as she leaned forward, "and I think I found one for you" she winked turning her back at me, her feet drag her ahead of me.
I groaned rolling my eyes as I stuck to her phase, "why do I always have to be the one you ship with random guys?" I asked, my arms are crossed in demand to know.
Mia shrugged, "because it's fun" she answered simply.
I stood on my tracks taken a back by her answer, "well" I whispered harshly at the amusement in her voice before trying to catch on to her once again.
